Need help, random pop ups plus possible virus (Hijack This log included)

Hi, I have had no issues with my computer until very recently, just today in fact. I woke up this morning to find that I was receiving many pop ups, including ones involving SpyQuake or some program with a name relative to that. So, I ran Ad-Aware and SpyBot to try to remove the issue. After that failed, I tried running my Anti-Virus software (AVG), which found 10 or so viruses and removed them all, however I am still getting the pop ups. Hopefully this Hijack This log can help find the issue.

Re: Need help, random pop ups plus possible virus (Hijack This log included)

Welcome to DAL,

Please download http://siri.urz.free.fr/Fix/SmitfraudFix.zip (by S!Ri)
Extract the content (a folder named SmitfraudFix) to your Desktop.

Open the SmitfraudFix folder and double-click smitfraudfix.cmd
Select option #1 - Search by typing 1 and press "Enter"; a text file will appear, which lists infected files (if present).
Please copy/paste the content of that report into your next reply.

Please do not run any other option until asked to do so, Thanks

Note : process.exe is detected by some antivirus programs (AntiVir, Dr.Web, Kaspersky) as a "RiskTool"; it is not a virus, but a program used to stop system processes. Antivirus programs cannot distinguish between "good" and "malicious" use of such programs, therefore they may alert the user.
http://www.beyondlogic.org/consulting/proc...processutil.htm

Please post a new hijackthis log and the smitfraudfix log. Thanks.

Re: Need help, random pop ups plus possible virus (Hijack This log included)

Hi,

Please print out or copy these instructions/tutorial to Notepad as the internet will not be (while in Safe Mode) available to you at certain points of the removal process. Make sure to work through all the Steps in the exact order in which they are listed below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before moving on with the fixes.
  1. Download and update Ewido. Please download the trial version of Ewido anti-malware from here:
    http://www.ewido.net/en/download/
    • Install Ewido anti-malware.
    • When installing, under Additional Options uncheck Install background guard and Install scan via context menu.
    • When you run Ewido for the first time, you could get a warning "Database could not be found!". Click Ok.
    • The program will prompt you to update. Click the Ok button.
    • The program will now go to the main screen.
You will need to update Ewido to the latest definition files.
    • On the left-hand side of the main screen click the Update Button.
    • Click on Start.
    • The update will start and a progress bar will show the updates being installed.
    Once finished updating, close Ewido.

If you are having problems with the updater, you can use this link to manually update ewido.
Ewido manual updates. Make sure to close Ewido before installing the update.
  2. Reboot your computer in Safe Mode.
    • If the computer is running, shut down Windows, and then turn off the power.
    • Wait 30 seconds, and then turn the computer on.
    • Start tapping the F8 key. The Windows Advanced Options Menu appears. If you begin tapping the F8 key too soon, some computers display a "keyboard error" message. To resolve this, restart the computer and try again.
    • Ensure that the Safe Mode option is selected.
    • Press Enter. The computer then begins to start in Safe mode.
    • Login on your usual account.
  3. Run Smitfraud Open the SmitfraudFix Folder, then double-click smitfraudfix.cmd file to start the tool.

The tool will create a log named rapport.txt in the root of your drive, eg: Local Disk C: or partition where your operating system is installed. Please post that log along with all others requested in your next reply.

  4. Clean out your Temporary Internet files. Proceed like this:
    • Quit Internet Explorer and quit any instances of Windows Explorer.

Empty the Recycle Bin by right-clicking the Recycle Bin icon on your Desktop, and then clicking Empty Recycle Bin.

  5. Run Ewido. Close ALL open Windows / Programs / Folders. Please start Ewido, and run a full scan.
    • Click on Scanner
    • Click on Settings

When it asks if you want to clean the first file, put a checkmark in the lower left corner of the box that says Perform action on all infections and put a checkmark in the box next to Create encrypted backup, then choose clean and click Ok.

Once the scan has completed, there will be a button located on the bottom of the screen named Save Report.
    • Click Save Report button

  7. Post Logs. Please post:
    1. c:\rapport.txt
    2. Ewido log

Your may need several replies to post the requested logs, otherwise they might get cut off.

Re: Need help, random pop ups plus possible virus (Hijack This log included)

I cannot get into Safe Mode. Well, I can, however my Desktop doesn't show up, and Explorer isn't running as a task. When I try to open it in a new task, the window shows up saying saying the computer is in safe mode and asks if I want to continue, however it disappears really quickly. Should I just do the above steps in normal mode?

Re: Need help, random pop ups plus possible virus (Hijack This log included)

Neal has advised he has to be away for the next day. I can continue to assist you, if you wish.

Try the following steps and then retry the steps that Neal provided:

Go to Start>Control Panel>Add/Remove Programs and look for PuritySCAN By OIN, OuterInfo, OIN or similar, click on it and click remove.

If not listed, download and run this uninstaller:
http://www.outerinfo.com/OiUninstaller.exe

Tutorial for the uninstaller if needed

Reboot when done and delete this folder if found:
C:\Program Files\PurityScan

If still unable to run the smitfraudfix tool in the manner requested, try running it in NORMAL MODE (to fix as much as is possible).

Post your latest HijackThis LOG, thereafter, please.

Re: Need help, random pop ups plus possible virus (Hijack This log included)

That is is much improved HJT LOG.

Please disable the running of 'Bearshare' while your issues are ongoing.

Please download VundoFix.exe to your desktop.

http://www.atribune.org/ccount/click.php?id=4

Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it.

Click the Scan for Vundo button.

Once it's done scanning, click the Remove Vundo button.

You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files, click YES
Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing Vundo.
When completed, it will prompt that it will shutdown your computer, click OK.
Turn your computer back on.

Check your HJT LOG and remove the following line items if still present (and also REBOOT again if such fixes are made):
Quote:
O16 - DPF: {B64F4A7C-97C9-11DA-8BDE-F66BAD1E3F3A} - http://download.cdn.winsoftware.com/...reeInstall.cab
O20 - AppInit_DLLs:

Please post the contents of C:\vundofix.txt and a new HiJackThis log. Tell us how your PC is now doing.

Re-run the smitfraudfix (initial) diagnostic scan and post it here, as well.
