Unhappy \WINDOWS\system32\shdoclc.dll/dnserror.htm

My computer is running really slow. I 've run virus checks (Norton, AVG) but there werent any viruses detected. I have also run the spyware(Spybot, Adaware) and had alot of tracking cookies etc which i delete. However it is still running extremely slow. I tried to browse the internet today using internet explorer and couldnt. Kept saying: \WINDOWS\system32\shdoclc.dll/dnserror.htm. I then tried the sbc/yahoo browser and it worked fine. I recently download hijackthis however could not understand how to rermove alot of the items that needed fixing. Please help......I work from home so I need to be able to access the internet as well as use my computer efficiently. Please someone help!!!!!!!!!

Re: \WINDOWS\system32\shdoclc.dll/dnserror.htm

When you use realtime (always checking) tools such as antivirus (AV) and anti-Trojan tools, you should not be running more than one such tool at the same time in a given category.

You appear to be running 3 AV tools all at the same time. This will impact performance and cause serious potential compatibility issues:

Norton
AVG
Bitdefender

Please uninstall or disable all but one of the above tools.

If both of the following tools are also running realtime monitors please ensure that only one such tool is loading at startup and/or is memory resident:

Ewido
A-squared

Re: \WINDOWS\system32\shdoclc.dll/dnserror.htm

How is your PC now performing? Do you still have the original error message conditions? If so, I will need to research this matter a little further.

Re: \WINDOWS\system32\shdoclc.dll/dnserror.htm

Go to Start > Run and type: cmd, hit OK
then type in the command window:
ipconfig /flushdns
then hit enter, type: exit, hit enter
(that space between g and / is needed)

See if that restores the connection, let me know.

For Windows 2K/XP
  • Please go to Start -> Control Panel, and choose Network Connections.
  • Then right click on your default connection, usually Local Area Connection or Dial-up Connection if you are using Dial-up, and left click on properties.
  • Double-click on the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) item and select the radio button that says Obtain DNS servers automatically.
  • Click OK twice, and restart your computer.

Otherwise, try the following (download from another PC):

You may want to print out these instructions for reference, since you will have to restart your computer during the fix.

Please download FixWareout from one of these sites:
http://downloads.subratam.org/Fixwareout.exe
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/file...Fixwareout.exe

Save it to your desktop and run it. Click Next, then Install, make sure ’Run fixit’ is checked and click Finish.
The fix will begin; follow the prompts.
You will be asked to reboot your computer; please do so.
Your system may take longer than usual to load; this is normal.

Once the desktop loads, post the text that will open (report.txt) and a new Hijackthis log in the forum please.
