virus? cpu 100% with exe. programs

Have a dell with windows xp with 39 gb hard drive and 9 gb of free space. Computer will freeze or go real slow when try to operate many programs. Mcafee is one example. When I pull up task manager, the cpu indicates it's at 100% and the program running is at 95%+/- I need to end the task to get everything woking again. There are times when Internet Explorer or AOL works fine. I did disk cleanup, disk frag, etc. When I try to run Ad-aware, several critical objects are found, but then I get the evil blue screen with a fatal error and the scan can't be completed. Please help. I really don't want to wipe the hard drive. This all started months ago and I've had the computer for a few years.
I run mcafee regularly and it comes up with nothing. I have to keep Mcafee disabled though because if it's enabled, nothing else will run because "mcshield.exe" is then running and using 95%+/- of the cpu. IE works fine usually but now if I want to delete temp. files from options, it also jumps my cpu extremely high and the iexplorer.exe remains at 95%+/- so nothing else will work. Could the missing files in many areas of my log have anything to do with this? Also, as I indicated above, I can't completely run ad-aware because I suddenly get the blue screen with a fatal error notation and then the computer starts right back up. I run ad-aware again and the same thing happens over and over again. Thanks for your help.

Here's my logfile from hijack this...

Re: virus? cpu 100% with exe. programs

SELECT HijackThis FIX ITEMS: Scan with HijackThis and place a check next to these items:

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {1da7dbe8-c51b-4ae4-bc6e-21863349b0b4} - C:\Program Files\Media-Codec\isaddon.dll (file missing)
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {391a72a1-108d-435a-875e-5b9048e11657} - C:\WINDOWS\System32\qmqn.dll

O4 - Startup: w32.exe

O21 - SSODL: hubbsi - {7b1eeccd-0a6d-4ad5-8ac1-4af5722b3885} - (no file)

Make sure that all browser windows and internet links are closed, even this one!
CLICK ’FIX CHECKED’ with HijackThis.

Downloadlink HaxFix: http://users.telenet.be/marcvn/tools/haxfix.exe
Mirror: http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/marckie/haxfix.exe

How to use HaxFix:
Double click on haxfix.exe to install the program. (standard installation path is c:\program Files\haxfix and standard run file in that folder is fix.bat)
Checkmark "Create a desktop icon".
Click "Next".
When the installation is completed, make sure that the checkmark "Launch haxfix" is placed.
Click "Finish".

A red "dos window" (dos box) will open with options:
1. Make logfile
2. Run auto fix
3. Run manual fix
E. Exit Haxfix

Close all other open windows since this step requires a reboot.
Select option "2. Run auto fix" by typing 2 and then pressing Enter.
If an infection is found, you'll get a message to close all other open windows.
Close all open windows except the red dos window from Haxfix and then press Enter.
The computer will reboot.

After reboot a logfile will open. (c:\haxfix.txt). Post that log back to this topic thread.

Post a revised HijackThis LOG please with any current revised observations.

Re: virus? cpu 100% with exe. programs

I listed both logs and then checked to see if it accomplished anything and I don't think it did. If I go into IE options and try to delete temp files, the cpu goes to 100% with IExplore.exe in the high 90s until I end the task. If I don't try to delete temp files, IE works fine. If I enable mcafee, mcshield.exe goes into the 90s cpu and again I can't do anything else. Windows media player will work fine but if I try to burn a cd, wmplayer.exe goes into the 90s and freezes everything else.

One very mean infection down (HaxDoor) and more to go by the looks of it.

Please download SmitfraudFix (by S!Ri)
Extract the content (a folder named SmitfraudFix) to your Desktop.

Open the SmitfraudFix folder and double-click smitfraudfix.cmd
Select option #1 - Search by typing 1 and press "Enter"; a text file will appear, which lists infected files (if present).
Please copy/paste the content of that report into your next reply.
DO NOT RUN ANY OTHER OPTIONS UNTIL REQUESTED TO.

Note : process.exe is detected by some antivirus programs (AntiVir, Dr.Web, Kaspersky) as a "RiskTool"; it is not a virus, but a program used to stop system processes. Antivirus programs cannot distinguish between "good" and "malicious" use of such programs, therefore they may alert the user.
http://www.beyondlogic.org/consulting/proc...processutil.htm

You may want to print out these instructions for reference, since you will have to restart your computer during the fix.

Please download FixWareout from one of these sites:
http://downloads.subratam.org/Fixwareout.exe
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/file...Fixwareout.exe

Save it to your desktop and run it. Click Next, then Install, make sure ’Run fixit’ is checked and click Finish.
The fix will begin; follow the prompts.
You will be asked to reboot your computer; please do so.
Your system may take longer than usual to load; this is normal.

Once the desktop loads, post the text that will open (report.txt).

Clean out TEMPORARY FILES procedures:
To clean your temp folder, recycle bin, etc..please download this free tool:

Install Options:
  • Don't install any Toolbars, or other programs, should it ask you!
  • Just uncheck the option of installing the Yahoo toolbar.

It will put a shortcut on your Desktop.

Do not run CCleaner until requested later.

Run CCleaner in SAFE MODE (reboot tapping the F8 key after the beep).

DELETE the following FILES, if still found present:

C:\WINDOWS\System32\qmqn.dll
C:\Documents and Settings\Windows User\Start Menu\Programs\Startup\w32.exe

Select the ‘Cleaner’ BUTTON option (top LEFT), if not already selected. Use the ’Windows’ TAB up front by default.
  • Uncheck ‘Cookies’ option (advisable)
  • Optionally, Uncheck ‘Recently Typed URLs’ option (potentially still useful)
  • Click the ‘Analyse’ button.
  • Thereafter, click ‘Run Cleaner’ after you have reviewed what it proposes to clean.

REBOOT into NORMAL MODE and post any requested reports.

Re: virus? cpu 100% with exe. programs

I downloaded ccleaner. Let me know if I should run it. Computer actually seems to be running fasrer than ever, except when I try to perform a few certain tasks like deleting temp files, enabling mcafee, burning cds, etc. Then task mgr goes to the 100% and nothing else will work until I end the task.

You are missing a file which is preventing you from running the wareoutfix tool.

Go to the link below and select your operating system and click the link on that site and follow instructions for obtaining the missing file and try the wareoutfix tool again please.

fixautont.html: http://www.tech-forums.net/computer/topic/29806.html

Thereafter, check whether the following line still exists in the HijackThis LOG (please advise). If it does please remove it:

O16 - DPF: {2D92D3F9-C295-7383-AF8D-586D6C24250C} - http://85.255.113.214/1/gdnUS2218.exe

Do you know what the following two (2) files are for? Is there anything still left in the 'Digital Design Ltd' FOLDER?:

O23 - Service: InstallTest - C:\Program Files\Digital Design Ltd\Metric Conversion Calculator\InstallTest.exe
O23 - Service: Metric Conversion Calculator Installer - C:\Program Files\Digital Design Ltd\Metric Conversion Calculator\MCCINST.EXE

Run CCleaner as instructed and post a revised HijackThis LOG plus any current observations.

Re: virus? cpu 100% with exe. programs

I got rid of those 2 Digital Design and the 016 you mentioned. Ccleaner looks very cool. Ran that also. What about running Issues in ccleaner? Also, unzipped the 3 xphome files from the site you noted, but having a hard time doing anything with it. Apparantly I also need winzip? Tried to download winzip from winzip.com but still unable to run Winzip. Bottom line is I don't think I resolved (added) the missing file.

What's with the last entry in the log below? No idea what ghost surf 2005 is.Would love to bag that also if I can.
