RONTOKBRO.C Worm problem

I realize I should be posting this in another forum but I'm unable to connect to that one. I have been trying to get rid of this Rontokbro worm for two days now. It will not let me do much of anything - including download HiJackThis or Killbox. I have no access to msconfig and cannot use restore function and am not able to use regedit. I have been able to download Trend Micro Sysclean but running that did not help in any way.

I'm not completely computer illiterate but I know nothing about getting rid of worms.

I an a missionary in rural Kenya and my internet connection speed is really slow and pretty expensive since even local calls are chargable.

I have a pretty good working backup system and I'm seriously considering rebooting my OS (Windows XP Home SP2).

Try downloading HijackThis (250K) and Killbox (70K) from another PC to diskette or memory stick. Rename those files to something like FIX_HJT.EXE and FIX_KB.EXE in case the blocking processes are looking for these tools by name.


We could really use HijackThis to help make a dent in what is going on in your PC.

Thanks for all your help and concern. I ended up taking my computer mem cards to nairobi and had the worm removed - they said over 10,000 files were infected!

PS - I have now downloaded hijackthis and killbox for future use.
