Laptop running very slow

I am currently running a Toshiba Satellite 1800 laptop and it has started to run very very slowly. I have run spybot S&D, ad-aware SE, AVG antivirus and AVG antispyware. I have deleted a lot of low use programs from my hard drive and defragmented the hard drive. I don't know what else to do. I have run a "hyjackthis" scan and am sending the logfile to you to see if you can recommend anything here. I am desperate to get my laptop running faster.

I can't see anything in there at all.

Do you have enough RAM and processor power?

Does it run slow at all times or only when your doing something in particular?

Have you tried running it in Safe Mode and seeing how it runs there?

Also try stopping C:\WINDOWS\system32\wuauclt.exe = Windows Update service from Control Panel and then by stopping it from Services. That can be accessed by Start>Run type services.msc and then hit enter.

Find Automatic Updates and right-click stop it. See if that makes a difference after rebooting. I've seen it in endless cases in the last four months where its the major cause for some odd reason.

CCleaner

Don't install any Toolbars, or other programs, should it ask you!Just uncheck the option of installing the Yahoo toolbar.
It will put a shortcut on your Desktop.

Uncheck cookies

Before first use:
Select Options then Advanced.
UNCHECK "Only delete files in Windows Temp folder older than 48 hours"

Click on CCleaner to start it. Then click "Run Cleaner", just use the windows tab up front by default.


Then Reboot (Exit)


Then find hijackthis.exe and right click on it then select rename and rename it to foolyou.exe and press enter and post a log from the renamed program in case malware is hiding from hijackthis.exe


Also...


Open Hijackthis.

Click the "Open the Misc Tools" section Button.

Click the "Open Uninstall Manager" Button.

Click the "Save list..." Button.

Save it to your desktop. Copy and paste the contents into your reply.
