problem with ie7

Hi
I think i had posted this problem in the wrong thread. I hope it's in the correct place now. I believe my browser has been hijacked. I keep getting a site called mikrotik.com, each time I try to open my Internet Explorer. I have done a hijackthis scan. Please help!!! I have been trying todown load Spybot, but I keep getting a message that the setup file is corrupt.

Re: problem with ie7

Hi, I have done all I know how, including two hijackthis scans, after installing both ad-aware and spybot s&d 1.4 (in safe mode too), but I'm still getting the MikroTik RouterOS managing Webpage in IE. I get a blank page when I put in about:blank in the address bar, but when I try to change to any other site I get the "mikro......."page. I can acess the web using firefox with no problem, but not with IE. CAN ANYONE HELPPPPPPPP PLEASE!??????

Re: problem with ie7

Do you have that router on your system?

Run Hoster
  1. Download Hoster Here: http://www.funkytoad.com/download/hoster.zip
  2. Unzip Hoster to your desktop
  3. Open up the Hoster program.
    • Make sure that the "make hosts writable?" button in the upper right corner is enabled.
    • Click back up Host files
    • then click Restore orginal host files
    • close program

Reboot

Did that help?

Re: problem with ie7

Hi.

To the 1st question... No I don't have that router on my system. I have no idea where it came from.

On the Hoster program, I managed to download with no problem, but when I enable "make hosts writeble?", then everything else seems to be disabled and I click anything else. "When it says make hosts readonly?" everything is enabled.I'm I doing something wrong?

Re: problem with ie7

Unfortunetly, it hasn't helped, in fact now I cant even get any website thru IE. I'm getting a "connecting to 10.4.1.1" at the bottom of my screen, regardless of what address I put in. This happens to be the IP address of my internet connection at the office. I'm in an internet cafe at the moment.

Re: problem with ie7

ok I think I have got it. The proxy server setting was enabled and pointing to my office IP address. I disabled it and everything is fine now. Now what I don't know for sure is, what actually got rid of the Mikrotik web page. What ever it was...... Thanks a million for all the help. You guys are the bomb!!!!
