DrWatson affecting only one file

hey all. after reading through the web i settled on here to try and get some help since you guys seemed the most curteous. ok my problem is as follows. i open up a subfolder of my documents and immediatly i get the DrWatson PostMortem Debugger window and i am forced to refresh windows. i have scanned my hard drive with a current release of spybot and also ran panda activescan online and nothing was found in either. i also tried it with my own anti-virus AVG, and nothing was found in that either. i'm at a loss of what to look for in the HJT logs so maybe you experts can give me a little advice. This problem seems to only the affect the one subfolder as i can't replicate it with any other folder, so i'm not exactly sure what the problem is though through my reading it might be associated with the acebot trojan but this only affects the one folder. thank you for your time in this matter and here is my HJT log.


edit - i also have quicktime (qttask) thats start up (unwantingly) everytime i start up. i've tried to disable it in startup but it keeps coming back. any idea's how to fix that one?
edit #2 - the error message has changed. its now Data Execution Prevention and it needs to close the folder. and then at the end DrWatson pops up. I still the same problem i can't get access to the folder and it continues to refresh explorer.

We will be restarting into Safe Mode later on in the fix and you might not be able to access the Internet. Accordingly, it is probably a good idea to print out the following directions or copy them to a text file on your desktop using NOTEPAD. Read these instructions carefully and feel free to ask if you're unsure about anything.




Download and install AVG Anti-Spyware 7.5 (AVG AS - formally known as Ewido anti-spyware 4.0 - uninstall any previous version first).

• Click the Download BUTTON. On the next page click the Download now BUTTON.
• Save and then install (Run) from the save location.
  
• Open/Run AVG Anti-Spyware
  
• Wait a few moments and AVG Anti-Spyware should Auto update itself (note date of last update). If it doesn't update, click the update ICON at top of screen:

  Click on the Update now LINK at the top of the window Click on the Start update button Wait for the update to download and install

• This is very important to get the LATEST updates.
  
• Click on the Status ICON
  • Under "Your computers Security"
    Click change status on Resident shield to inactive (ONLY consider activation of that feature once you are clean)
• Click on the Scanner ICON at the top of the window
  
• Click on the Settings tab then select Recommended Actions and choose Quarantine
• When updating has finished. Close AVG Anti-Spyware.

We will be using this tool in a later step.




Reboot your computer in Safe Mode.

• If the computer is running, shut down Windows, and then turn off the power.
• Wait 30 seconds, and then turn the computer on.
• Start tapping the F8 key. The Windows Advanced Options Menu appears. If you begin tapping the F8 key too soon, some computers display a "keyboard error" message. To resolve this, restart the computer and try again.
• Ensure that the Safe Mode option is selected.
• Press Enter. The computer then begins to start in Safe mode.
• Login on your usual account.

Close ALL open Windows / Programs / Folders. Please start AVG Anti-Spyware , and run a full scan:

• Click on the default Status ICON and select the Scan now LINK.

• Click on the Scanner ICON . Select the Scan TAB.
  
  
  • Select Complete System Scan. AVG Anti-Spyware will now begin to scan your system.

• If AVG Anti-Spyware finds anything it will list them in the Preview WINDOW:
  • Make sure that Set all elements to: shows Quarantine, if not click on the link and choose Quarantine from the popup menu.
  • Select Apply all actions at the bottom of the window (and the items found will be quarantined – and recoverable, if any items are needed back).
  
  
• When the scan has completed, click on the Save Scan Report button and save the scan to your Desktop where it can be easily found.
• Copy and paste the AVG Anti-Spyware scan results into your next post.
• Close AVG Anti-Spyware.

REBOOT and Post your latest HijackThis log. And, let us know how your PC is now behaving – any changes in behavior.

i did all of the above and i found one error. i couldn't save the report to my desktop but the content of the report was one virus found and removed at C:\WINDOWS\system32\dvrdox.dll. this is the new hijack this log

did as you said. i still have the same problem where i can't open a specific folder(i think its 2 folders now, i can't open my temporary internet folder either. the other folder has several of mymovies and tv shows that i've recorded off my archos). i no longer get the DrWatson, i only get the Data Execution Prevention and then explorer refreshes. quicktime still starts on startup even tho i've tried to uninstall and disabled it on startup through msconfig. i'm out of ideas on that one. thank you for your help so far vopthis!

We will be restarting into Safe Mode later on in the fix and you might not be able to access the Internet. Accordingly, it is probably a good idea to print out the following directions or copy them to a text file on your desktop using NOTEPAD. Read these instructions carefully and feel free to ask if you're unsure about anything.




Download and install AVG Anti-Spyware 7.5 (AVG AS - formally known as Ewido anti-spyware 4.0 - uninstall any previous version first).

• Click the Download BUTTON. On the next page click the Download now BUTTON.
• Save and then install (Run) from the save location.
  
• Open/Run AVG Anti-Spyware
  
• Wait a few moments and AVG Anti-Spyware should Auto update itself (note date of last update). If it doesn't update, click the update ICON at top of screen:

  Click on the Update now LINK at the top of the window Click on the Start update button Wait for the update to download and install

• This is very important to get the LATEST updates.
  
• Click on the Status ICON
  • Under "Your computers Security"
    Click change status on Resident shield to inactive (ONLY consider activation of that feature once you are clean)
• Click on the Scanner ICON at the top of the window
  
• Click on the Settings tab then select Recommended Actions and choose Quarantine
• When updating has finished. Close AVG Anti-Spyware.

We will be using this tool in a later step.




Reboot your computer in Safe Mode.

• If the computer is running, shut down Windows, and then turn off the power.
• Wait 30 seconds, and then turn the computer on.
• Start tapping the F8 key. The Windows Advanced Options Menu appears. If you begin tapping the F8 key too soon, some computers display a "keyboard error" message. To resolve this, restart the computer and try again.
• Ensure that the Safe Mode option is selected.
• Press Enter. The computer then begins to start in Safe mode.
• Login on your usual account.

Close ALL open Windows / Programs / Folders. Please start AVG Anti-Spyware , and run a full scan:

• Click on the default Status ICON and select the Scan now LINK.

• Click on the Scanner ICON . Select the Scan TAB.
  
  
  • Select Complete System Scan. AVG Anti-Spyware will now begin to scan your system.

• If AVG Anti-Spyware finds anything it will list them in the Preview WINDOW:
  • Make sure that Set all elements to: shows Quarantine, if not click on the link and choose Quarantine from the popup menu.
  • Select Apply all actions at the bottom of the window (and the items found will be quarantined – and recoverable, if any items are needed back).
  
  
• When the scan has completed, click on the Save Scan Report button and save the scan to your Desktop where it can be easily found.
• Copy and paste the AVG Anti-Spyware scan results into your next post.
• Close AVG Anti-Spyware.

REBOOT.



Please do an online scan (scan only tool) with Kaspersky WebScanner
[Internet Explorer required]


Click on Kaspersky Online Scanner

You will be prompted to install an ActiveX component from Kaspersky, Click Yes.

• The program will launch and then begin downloading the latest definition files:
• Once the files have been downloaded click on NEXT
  
• Now click on Scan Settings
• In the scan settings make sure that the following are selected:
  • Scan using the following Anti-Virus database:
    - Extended (if available otherwise Standard)
  • Scan Options:
    - Scan Archives
    - Scan Mail Bases
• Click OK
• Now under select a target to scan:
  • Select My Computer
• This program will start and scan your system.
• The scan will take a while so be patient and let it run.
• Once the scan is complete it will display if your system has been infected.
  • Now click on the Save as Text button:
• Save the file to your desktop.
• Copy and paste that information in your next post.
