Re: HJT log, Please help me with these annoying pop ups

You have a popup infection which you noted and another serious infection which should be addressed first.

Download SDFix and save it to your Desktop.

Double click SDFix.exe and choose Install to extract it to its own folder on the Desktop. Please then reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following :
  • Restart your computer
  • After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, tap the F8 key continually;
  • Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu with options should appear;
  • Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode, then press "Enter".
  • Choose your usual account.
  • In Safe Mode, right click the SDFix.zip folder and choose Extract All,
  • Open the extracted folder and double click RunThis.bat to start the script.
  • Type Y to begin the script.
  • It will remove the Trojan Services then make some repairs to the registry and prompt you to press any key to Reboot.
  • Press any Key and it will restart the PC.
  • Your system will take longer that normal to restart as the fixtool will be running and removing files.
  • When the desktop loads the Fixtool will complete the removal and display Finished, then press any key to end the script and load your desktop icons.
  • Finally open the SDFix folder on your desktop and copy and paste the contents of the results file Report.txt back onto the forum with a new HijackThis log.

Re: HJT log, Please help me with these annoying pop ups

Several issues need to be considered before proceeding:

  • SDFIX:
    http://www.google.ca/search?hl=en&q=...e+Search&meta=
Your system has likely been compromised to point where even cleaning does not promise you a trustworthy machine. There is lot of serious concern for the SDBOT infection family and its known updateable/installable capabilities whether in use or not (20K hits for inclusive search terms SDBOT, banking, and password). If you do online banking or have passwords that would be a serious concern in the hands of others (identity theft or compromise of confidential information), then more serious action is likely advisable and potentially warranted (backup user files and do a clean re-install). More often than not they want your PC as a compromised zombie (a botnet/spambot member to do evil deeds) – but who is to know.

Nevertheless, initial cleaning may be a good first step to give you some renewed degree of control and then time to more fully consider your options. Let us know how you wish to proceed.

  • You are not currently running a proper real-time (always on) antivirus tool.

There are some good free Antivirus programs that are decent, including AVG and Avast!. Install one of them if you wish to salvage your PC as best you can. Also, post a revised HijackThis LOG to reflect such an installation, if applicable.

    AVG: http://free.grisoft.com/doc/1
    Avast: http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.html

Re: HJT log, Please help me with these annoying pop ups

Please download VundoFix.exe to your desktop.
  • Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it.
  • Click the Scan for Vundo button.
  • Once it's done scanning, click the Remove Vundo button.
  • You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files, click YES
  • Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing Vundo.
  • When completed, it will prompt that it will reboot your computer, click OK.
  • Please post the contents of C:\vundofix.txt and a new HiJackThis log.

Note: It is possible that VundoFix encountered a file it could not remove.
In this case, VundoFix will run on reboot, simply follow the above instructions starting from "Click the Scan for Vundo button." when VundoFix appears at reboot.

Re: HJT log, Please help me with these annoying pop ups

Are your popup issues now resolved? Let us know, please.

You appear to running both Ewido and Avg Anti-Spyware (AVGAS). AVGAS is essentially an updated version of Ewido. Please uninstall Ewido if that is the case and then REBOOT.

Thereafter, please ensure that AVGAS (right-click icon in tooltray to exit) is not running while you conduct the following scan:

Using Internet Explorer run Panda's ActiveScan from here and perform a full system scan.

1. Once you are on the Panda site click the "Scan your PC" button
2. A new window will open...click the big "Check Now" button
3. Enter your Country
4. Enter your State/Province
5. Enter your e-mail address and click send
6. Select either Home User or Company
7. Click the big Scan Now button
8. If it wants to install an ActiveX component allow it
9. It will start downloading the files it requires for the scan (Note: It will take a couple minutes). You may need to click the ‘Retry again’ BUTTON or you may need to exit and retry at the ‘Scan Now’ BUTTON.
10. Click on "Local Disks" to start the scan
11. Post Panda scan results in your next reply
