New HiJack This Log - Office files slow / Bullguard detecting continuous attacks

Hi,

Please see attached HiJack This Log. I see Symantec processes again (I shouldn't have any?), my office files take forever to open, windows explorer is forever crashing and my Bullguard software is continuously detecting attacks!

Would someone please look over my log and if possible recommend how I can reset my firewall so that I can go through the pain of vetting all the processes from scratch?

How did you go about uninstalling Symantec tools since the process is definitely incomplete:

Those tools seem to have been provided by Yahoo. You may need to consult them to get a complete uninstall. Or any remaining removal item(s) may be evident in the uninstall list that can be accessed as follows:

• Run HijackThis and Click Open the Misc Tools section button.
• Then click the Open Uninstall Manager… button.
• Click the Save list… button. Save uninstall_list to your desktop.
  
  
• Open the Uninstall list file and post in your next reply, please.

You have the following uninstaller entries related to Symantec. Go to 'Add/Remove Programs' (Control Panel) and see if and which of those uninstaller entries will run (click on those entries) to properly remove undesired Norton components (particularly 'Norton Internet Security' if antivirus is still active - conflicting with 'BullGuard'). Additionally, you don't want two firewalls running at the same time ('Norton Personal Firewall' and ZoneAlarm). The duplicate entries may not be a good sign (different versions?) as well as unknown partial inactivations and possibly inadvisable steps which may have been responsible for partial removals as shown in the HijackThis LOG (file missing):

Lastly, your HJT LOG shows that you should have JAVA Version 1.6.0_01 but no such entry is reflected in your Uninstall list (more strange happenings - you may have removed the uninstaller entry but not run the uninstaller in 'Add/Remove Programs'). You do, however, have a very old version still showing that will need to be removed ONLY once everything else has been addressed and your PC is working acceptibly:

Thanks again for your assistance.

Upon looking at Add/Remove programs in Control Panel the only Norton/Symantec entry was Norton Antivirus Help. I used the Norton removal tool and that entry along with the Symantec entires in the uninstall manager appear to have been removed.

Please see new HJT log and Uninstall List.

Also, when you said "Additionally, you don't want two firewalls running at the same time ('Norton Personal Firewall' and ZoneAlarm)" – did you mean Norton and Bullguard? I can't see any reference to ZoneAlarm.

I don't see any reference to ZoneAlarm either. Not sure where that came from - ignore comment if only one firewall is running.




Your system has an outdated version(s) of Sun Java that could create serious security exposure issues for your PC.

Update your Java.

Older JAVA versions have vulnerabilities that malware can and are using to infect systems.

Please follow these steps to remove older version Java components.

• Close any programs you may have running, ESPECIALLY your web browser
• Click Start > Control Panel.
• Click Add/Remove Programs.
• Check any item with Java Runtime Environment (JRE) in the name.
• Click the Remove or Change/Remove button.
• Repeat as many times as necessary to remove all versions of Java.
• Reboot your computer once all Java components are removed.

Download the latest version of Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6.0 Update 2 or higher, and install it to your computer.


New Version should show as (HijackThis log):

C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.6.0_02\… or higher
