Cool IE Browser shuts down (Resolved)

I have had a problem with IE6 shutting down on web based email sites and some google links. The OS is WinXP and I have been advised by another member that Hijack This and AdAware fixed his issue. I have used AdAware and other programs (Spybot and I think CWShredder). I still have the issue and have now run a Hijack This log for you to examine, since I do not understand it fully. Thanks in advance for your help...

I hope I followed the instuctions correctly?!?!

Re: IE Browser shuts down

I've been browsing around on the web site looking for some kind of lead on what the items I need to remove may be. I see others that have a similar issue to mine and I will now start removing things, after reg backup, and letting you know what happens to the best of my ability.

Re: IE Browser shuts down

If I could rate this thread again it would definately be a -100. I have waited several hours and watched as other threads have been updated and have had no, 0, nada responses to this question. I hope this will still be posted but if not I will not be supprised. I guess I am on my own, as I was when I started this thread.

Goodbye,
Jon

Thank you for your response. However, I was never asked or told I would get a better response if I was willing to pay. Which I am not...

Re: IE Browser shuts down

Thank you for letting me know you are there Owen. I was frustrated yesterday after working on this issue for a couple of days and when other posting were getting answers but not mine it just added to the frustration.

I have run HighJack this and ended up removing all the items that it showed. That did not fix my issue. I have just restored most of those items. Here is the current HighJack This log...

Re: IE Browser shuts down

I can understand your frustration I've been stuck in situations like this myself and it is very frustrating having a problem such as this. You just have to be patient though. Some forums don't reply to posts for a week and it annoys me to see people criticising this forum because the reponses for this forum that I look after is usually fast.

Fixing all entries in Hijack This won't solve your problems, maybe just cause you more

Close all browser windows, restart Hijack This and put a checkmark next to the following entries:

O2 - BHO: SDWin32 Class - {104AC9C1-B6E5-477E-A1AB-33D51B6DC76D} - C:\WINDOWS\System32\jffgi.dll
O2 - BHO: adlog Class - {22B9A67D-E689-44B6-B775-0E8FE84B4F9B} - C:\WINDOWS\System32\hdalegj.dll
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [hkaveag] C:\WINDOWS\System32\hkaveag.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [KernelFaultCheck] %systemroot%\system32\dumprep 0 -k
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [jffgic] C:\WINDOWS\System32\jffgic.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [KDA 2.0] C:\DOCUME~1\Ricky\LOCALS~1\Temp\Rar$EX00.563\kda21 .exe
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [spc_w] "C:\Program Files\NZSearch\hcm.exe" -w
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [msscp] C:\WINDOWS\System32\msscp.exe
O16 - DPF: {1D0D9077-3798-49BB-9058-393499174D5D} - file://c:\counter.cab
O16 - DPF: {E7DBFB6C-113A-47CF-B278-F5C6AF4DE1BD} - http://download.abacast.com/downloa...abasetup132.cab

Click Fix Checked

Then boot into Safe Mode and ensure that you are showing Hidden Files and Folders.

Go to C:\documents and settings\Ricky\local settings\temp and once in the folder click Edit> Select All. Then hit the delete key to get rid of the entire contents of the folder. Leave the folder itself intact though.

Delete the following files and folders:
C:\WINDOWS\System32\hkaveag.exe
C:\WINDOWS\System32\jffgic.exe
C:\Program Files\NZSearch
C:\WINDOWS\System32\msscp.exe

Reboot and post a fresh log
