Buffer Overrun detected using DC++!

Hi all.
I have a sharing program called dc++ and every time I open the program, a Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library message pops up stating:
Buffer Overrun detected!

Please help me get rid of this message!

Re: Buffer Overrun detected using DC++!

Buffer overrun problems can be very difficult to troubleshoot. I see no helpful clues of potential issues in your HJT log plus the VISTA OS could be a compatibility issue contributing factor.

Try reviewing the following links which might help point you in the right direction:

http://www.google.ca/search?hl=en&q=...ed&btnG=Search

Further diagnostics may be made available from the following scan:
Please download Deckard's System Scanner (DSS) to your desktop.
  • Close all applications and windows.
  • Double-click on dss.exe to run it, and follow the prompts.
  • When the scan is complete, a text file will open - Main.txt
  • Copy (Ctrl+A then Ctrl+C) and paste (Ctrl+V) the contents of Main.txt in your thread in the HijackThis Log Help Forum.
  • An additional text file, Extra.txt, will also be available (by default) in the following FOLDER, C:\Deckard\System Scanner.
  • Please go to that FOLDER and also copy the contents of Extra.txt to your post as well.

Note: some firewalls may warn that sigcheck.exe is trying to access the internet - please ensure that you allow sigcheck.exe permission to do so.

Quote:
What DSS will do:
  • Create a new System Restore point in Windows XP and Vista.
  • Clean your Temporary Files, Downloaded Program Files, and Internet Cache Files, and also empty the Recycle Bin on all drives.
  • Check some important areas of your system and produce a report for your analyst to review. DSS automatically runs HijackThis for you, but it will also install and place a shortcut to HijackThis on your desktop if you do not already have it installed.
Post Logs:
  • DSS Scan Results: contents of:
    • 1) Main.txt
    • 2) Extra.txt

Re: Buffer Overrun detected using DC++!

Quote:
CPU 0: Intel(R) Core(TM) Duo CPU T2350 @ 1.86GHz
Percentage of Memory in Use: 68%
Physical Memory (total/avail): 1021.82 MiB / 326.59 MiB
Pagefile Memory (total/avail): 2295.53 MiB / 1213.61 MiB
Is 68% memory use typical? When you load a resource intensive app, that may initially exceed physical memory as shown by pagefile memory usage. If the needed memory is not given up gracefully, that may be creating a buffer overrun. If so, it is then possible that additional RAM memory might help resolve your issues.

You can observe memory in use (and 'Commit Charge' pagefile) if you load the TASK MANAGER:
  • Use CTRL+SHIFT+ESC KEYS
  • You can also right click on the task bar to pull up the task manager as well...

Click on the 'MEMORY' column to sort on that column (highest to lowest). Then observe what DC++ does to memory when it loads.

Once your issues are resolved and for future reference, you should ensure you have a minimum firewall running (Windows Internal Firewall).
