Malware Problem!(RESOLVED)

Hello
My friend had a malware on his pc.... and i connected my External Hard drive to his PC and than when i connected to my pc the virus came onto my PC....

Some plez help me. And also how would i fix get rid of the virus from my Extrnal Harddrive.... (is the virus going to get on all the files on my external hd or is just going to stay on just on one file)

I notice that you have Spybot's TeaTimer running. While this is normally a wonderful tool to protect against hijackers, it can also interfere with HijackThis fixes. So please disable TeaTimer by doing the following:

1. Run Spybot-S&D
2. Go to the Mode menu, and make sure "Advanced Mode" is selected
3. On the left hand side, choose Tools -> Resident
4. Uncheck "Resident TeaTimer" and OK any prompts

You can reenable TeaTimer once your system is clean.



* Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from HERE or HERE

Double Click mbam-setup.exe to install the application.

* Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and zLaunch Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
* If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
* Once the program has loaded, select "Perform Quick Scan", then click Scan.
* The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient.
* When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
* Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
* When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart.(See Extra Note)
* The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
* Copy&Paste the entire report in your next reply along with a fresh HijackThis log.


Extra Note:
If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove,you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts,click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process,if asked to restart the computer,please do so immediatly.

its doing good....
i had a problem
When I choose tools -> folder options -> view, then I checked "Show hidden files and folders " radio box, then Apply button and Ok. When I open the same window again it shows that "Show hidden files and folders"radio box is unchecked. I coluldn't check it anyway.

my friend told me to do this
Start >> run >> (type) sfc /scannow ...... that fixed it....! other than that its working good.

About my External HD, i have the files on my PC hard drive.... can i put them back to my external HD?? (because i use those files for my school work at school)
and also is it safe to connect my External HD to my PC now??

what is csrss.exe and smss.exe . These are showing up in my Windows Task Manager. I haven't seen that before?

can i put the files that i copied frm the external Hd back to my external HD??
and also is it safe to connect my External HD to my PC now??

I would scan the external hard drive if you put those back on it.


This is how you research unknown files:

csrss.exe

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q...=Google+Search

As long as it is in the system32 folder it is a good file


smss.exe

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q...xe&btnG=Search

As long as it is in system32 folder it is good


Google is our friend


A single file scanner like Virus Total can scan single files, but make sure you can see hidden files and folders if you can't find it.

Example



Go to next site:
http://www.virustotal.com/en/indexf.html
On top you'll find 'Browse'
Click the browse button and browse to next file:


C:\WINDOWS\system32\bzzyn.exe


Click open.
Then click the 'Send' button next to it.
This will scan the file. Please be patient.
Once scanned, copy and paste the results as well in your next reply.
