wot is best security?

Hi all, iam new here, just had internet connected for a week now and after 2 days got a virus? i had to re install windows from scratch to get rid of it. I have mcafee with my internet provider 02 but i'am not sure if it is any good as i got a virus any way.wot would be the best to protect my computer. Any help would be appreciated. By the way i think the virus was from getieantivrus,this site kept asking me to buy from it to clean the computer.Sorry not very clear but i'am a novice at all this. Thanks in advance.

They are all basically ok but one program will not stop all infections, you need good anti-virus and good anti-spyware.
