trojan- i need help please

Hi all,

This is my first post and i am in need of help. I am very ignorant when it comes to computers- i'm computer novice.

I have a trojan on my computer, i have mcAfee, but it doesn't seem to get rid of it:

generic exploit C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\NTDLL64.DLL

Is it possible to get rid of this and how?

I have windows xp.

* Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from HERE or HERE

Double Click mbam-setup.exe to install the application.

Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
Run the scan in SAFEMODE (tapping the F8 key on bootup), if necessary.
If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
If you encounter any problems while downloading the updates, manually download them from HERE and just double-click on mbam-rules.exe to install.
Once the program has loaded, select "Full Scan", then click Scan.
The scan may take some time to finish, so please be patient.
When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
Make sure that everything is checked , and click Remove Selected.
When disinfection is completed , a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart(See Extra Note).
A run log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs TAB in MBAM.
Copy&Paste the entire report in your next reply along with a fresh HijackThis log.
Please post any current revised observations.

Extra Note:
If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts, click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process, if asked to restart the computer, please do so immediately.

Thanks for replying to my plea for help.

I downloaded the malwarebytes and ran the scan in safe mode, however the computer turns itself off before the scan has finished all the time. So here is the report i can get so far. Also (i'm being really stupid- but what is a hijackthis log?).

Please only reply to your ongoing topic and use the 'Post Reply' BUTTON AT THE VERY TOP OR BOTTOM OF YOUR TOPIC. I will eventually merge your latest post with your initial post.

Sounds like you might also be having hardware issues - potentially bad RAM memory, failing power supply, failing hard drive, etc. We are not going to be able to get much done when your PC lasts only 1m30s and we are needing 30-60 minutes to scan for malware.

You could try and describe what is happening or may need to take your PC to a shop. Is there a consistent repeating pattern or noise? Are you getting specific error messages, a blue screen, or does it simply shut down without warning? What is the normal elapsed time before reboot?

Try the following quick scans which may help improve matters:

Clean out TEMPORARY FILES procedures:
To clean your temp folder, recycle bin, etc..please download this free tool:

CCleaner CCleaner - Download

Install Options:

Don't install any Toolbars, or other programs, should it ask you!
Just uncheck the option of installing the Yahoo toolbar.

It will put a shortcut on your Desktop.

Do not run CCleaner until requested later.

Run CCleaner preferably in SAFE MODE (reboot tapping the F8 key after the beep).

Select the ‘Options’ BUTTON option (top LEFT), ‘Advanced’ BUTTON, and then UNCHECK the ‘Only delete files in Windows Temp Folders older than 48 hours’ (often, the latest download traffic could be the bearer of bad content – RESET back to default after this particular cleaning).

Select the ‘Cleaner’ BUTTON option (top LEFT), if not already selected. Use the ’Windows’ TAB up front by default.

Uncheck ‘Cookies’ option (advisable)
Optionally, Uncheck ‘Recently Typed URLs’ option (potentially still useful)
Click the ‘Analyse’ button.
Thereafter, click ‘Run Cleaner’ after you have reviewed what it proposes to clean.

Click here to download HJTInstall.exe (Trend Micro HijackThis v2.0.2).

Save HJTsetup.exe to your desktop.
Double click on the HJTsetup.exe icon on your desktop.
By default it will install to C:\Program Files\HijackThis.
Continue to click Next in the setup dialogue boxes until you get to the Select Addition Tasks dialogue.
Put a check by Create a desktop icon then click Next again.
Continue to follow the rest of the prompts from there.
At the final dialogue box click Finish and it will launch HijackThis.
Click on the Do a system scan and save a logfile button.
- It will scan and the log should open in notepad.
- Click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" to copy the entire contents of the log.
- Come back here to this thread and Paste the log in your next reply (when next requested) .
DO NOT use the AnalyseThis button, its findings are dangerous if misinterpreted.
DO NOT have HijackThis fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.

Did you actually run a full recommended Malwarebytes AM (MBAM) scan? Run that immediately after running 'sdfix' below and before posting a new HJT LOG.

Download SDFix and save it to your Desktop.

Double click SDFix.exe and choose Install to extract it to its own folder on the Desktop. Please then reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following :

Restart your computer
After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, tap the F8 key continually;
Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu with options should appear;
Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode, then press "Enter".
Choose your usual account.

In Safe Mode, right click the SDFix.zip folder and choose Extract All,
Open the extracted folder and double click RunThis.bat to start the script.
Type Y to begin the script.
It will remove the Trojan Services then make some repairs to the registry and prompt you to press any key to Reboot.
Press any Key and it will restart the PC.
Your system will take longer that normal to restart as the fixtool will be running and removing files.
When the desktop loads the Fixtool will complete the removal and display Finished, then press any key to end the script and load your desktop icons.
Finally open the SDFix folder on your desktop and copy and paste the contents of the results file Report.txt back onto the forum with a new HijackThis log.

Please also provide any new current observations.
