Stuttering sound on dvd and cd

I've just started experiencing this when playing cd and dvd's, audio from mp3 etc ok. Ran malwareb, spybot and antispy. without anything coming up, my hijack this log is below, I've removed the 2 traces of ask toolbar but can't see anything else. Is there anything which could cause me problems?

ps I have now found that the computer will not return to highlighted system restore points. Avira has run clean scans yesterday and the last quarantine objects were on the same day as the last system restore point. Coincidence?

Re: Stuttering sound on dvd and cd

It appears you are running two anti-virus programs and possibly two firewalls, try uninstalling one of them:

ThreatFire
AntiVir PersonalEdition Classic: possible firewall also which would make you two firewalls and only one is needed.
\PC Tools Firewall Plus

Update Java: Security Issue

* Go to Start > Control Panel double-click on the Software icon > add/remove programs.
* Search in the list for all previous installed versions of Java. (J2SE Runtime Environment.... )

It should have next icon next to it:
Select it and click Remove.
* The current version can be downloaded from Sun here: Java SE Downloads - Sun Developer Network (SDN) Scroll down the page to 'Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6u12(or higher) and press the 'Download' button. On the new web page, click the 'Accept License Agreement' button. Then select 'Windows Offline Installation, Multi-language' in the Windows Platform area just below the Accept button.

What is happening now?

Re: Stuttering sound on dvd and cd

Didn't realise that Avira was also a firewall, will have to look into this. I have just updated the Dell dvd firmware from DE0-3 to DE0-4 which seems to have stopped the problem. Can't understand why Dell put the 2007 firmware on when I bought the lappy in mid 2008. So far its running ok, had a BSOD yesterday whilst running the dvd so running it in the background to see what happens. Any more problems and I have a Samsung version to try. Thanks for the help.
