[Resolved]random named .exe files in windows/temp

Greetings to all of you.
A couple of years ago I had a problem with my comp and people here at D-A-L helped me clean the spyware. I'm very grateful for that and for many years I've managed to keep my PC clean. But now something has passed trough and here are the symptoms.

I use NOD as a antivirus software. Couple of days ago, upon connecting to internet, it has started displaying warning messages that it has blocked access to http://mal-waredoc.com/f.exe

Here is what it says:

20.5.2009 20:13:37 HTTP filter file http://mal-waredoc.com/f.exe a variant of Win32/Kryptik.C trojan connection terminated - quarantined NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM Threat was detected upon access to web by the application: C:\WINDOWS\System32\SERVICES.EXE.

What the virus does is this - upon connection to the internet it creates a randomly-named .exe file in WINDOWS/TEMP directory.
NOD blocks that file access to the net but id doesn't delete it. I have to do that by hand.

Obviously, something is creating those .exe files - what! How can I clean up my comp.

Here is my Hijack this file:

re: [Resolved]random named .exe files in windows/temp

We have couple of issues here, to start with.

*** You don't have SP2 installed, which is very crucial service pack.
Do NOT install it yet. We have to make sure, first, your computer is clean.

*** Then, you're running two antivirus programs: NOD, and AVG 7.5.
AVG 7.5 is not functional anymore, and you can't use two AV programs.
Please, uninstall AVG.

================================================== ======

Print these instructions out.

NOTE. If any of the programs listed below refuse to run, try renaming executive file to something else; for instance, rename hijackthis.exe to scanner.exe

STEP 1. Download SUPERAntiSpyware Free for Home Users:
SUPERAntiSpyware.com | Remove Malware | Remove Spyware - AntiMalware, AntiSpyware, AntiAdware!

* Double-click SUPERAntiSpyware.exe and use the default settings for installation.
* An icon will be created on your desktop. Double-click that icon to launch the program.
* If asked to update the program definitions, click "Yes". If not, update the definitions before scanning by selecting "Check for Updates". (If you encounter any problems while downloading the updates, manually download and unzip them from here: SUPERAntiSpyware.com - Database Definition Information.)
* Close SUPERAntiSpyware.

PHYSICALLY DISCONNECT FROM THE INTERNET

Restart computer in Safe Mode.
To enter Safe Mode, restart computer, and keep tapping F8 key, until menu appears; select Safe Mode; you'll see "Safe Mode" in all four corners of your screen

* Open SUPERAntiSpyware.
* Under Configuration and Preferences, click the Preferences button.
* Under General and Startup tab, make sure, Start SUPERAntiSpyware when Windows starts option is UN-checked.
* Click the Scanning Control tab.
* Under Scanner Options make sure the following are checked (leave all others unchecked):
- Close browsers before scanning.
- Scan for tracking cookies.
- Terminate memory threats before quarantining.

* Click the Close button to leave the control center screen.
* Back on the main screen, under Scan for Harmful Software click Scan your computer.
* On the left, make sure you check C:\Fixed Drive.
* On the right, under Complete Scan, choose Perform Complete Scan.
* Click Next to start the scan. Please be patient while it scans your computer.
* After the scan is complete, a Scan Summary box will appear with potentially harmful items that were detected. Click OK.
* Make sure everything has a checkmark next to it and click Next.
* A notification will appear that Quarantine and Removal is Complete. Click OK and then click the Finish button to return to the main menu.
* If asked if you want to reboot, click Yes.
* To retrieve the removal information after reboot, launch SUPERAntispyware again.
- Click Preferences, then click the Statistics/Logs tab.
- Under Scanner Logs, double-click SUPERAntiSpyware Scan Log.
- If there are several logs, click the current dated log and press View log. A text file will open in your default text editor.
- Please copy and paste the Scan Log results in your next reply.

* Click Close to exit the program.
Post SUPERAntiSpyware log.
NOTE: Tracking cookies may be omitted from the log.

RESTART COMPUTER!

STEP 2. Download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware: Malwarebytes.org to your desktop.
(Malwarebytes is free to use as a manual scanner. Payment is only required if you wish to have it run and update automatically which is not necessary for our purposes)

* Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
* At the end, be sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
* If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
* Once the program has loaded, select Perform full scan, then click Scan.
* When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
* Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
* When completed, a log will open in Notepad.
* Post the log back here.

The log can also be found here:

Altrough Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and SUPERantySpyware found some infections/files, and deleted them, the problem still exists. There are again random named .exe files generated in the winows/temp.
I hope that GMER log can tell you where exactly is the infection and how can we delete it.

Thank you once again for your help.

re: [Resolved]random named .exe files in windows/temp

1. You didn't follow my request about uninstalling AVG 7.5

2. Run GMER one more time.
Right click on:
Service System32\drivers\f1d044bb.sys (*** hidden *** ) [SYSTEM] f1d044bb <-- ROOTKIT !!!
Click "Delete the service" and answer YES to all questions.
Restart computer, post fresh GMER log, along with new HJT log.

3. Download, and install AVP Tool.
After installation, leave all settings as they're, and simply click on Scan button.
When scan is done, and any objects are found, click on Neutralize all button.
Next, click Reports... button, then Save to file....
Save the file to know location as report.txt.
Open report.txt in Notepad, copy all content, and post it in your next reply.

re: [Resolved]random named .exe files in windows/temp

Thank you once again for your help.

I scanned my computer with GMER but it said, upon mine clicking on delete:
Error 0x0000010: Service "F1d044bb" was not deleted and ten, after I clicked yes it said
Error File "System32/Drivers/F1d044bb" couldn't be deleted, Error 0x00000003!

Then I went to safemode and scanned it with Kaspersky Virus Removal Tool and it has found the virus in couple of files (the already knows System32/Drivers + in System restore)
Upon saving the log file it kind of got stuck so I'll paste what it saved:

When I conected to the net to paste this here, no files ware generated in Windows/temp. Does this mean we killed the virus?

And as for AVG - I didn't uninstall it because I thought of the warning "do not change anything" and I didn't know if I can do that in the middle of cleaning up or should I wait till the virus is cleaned.

Thank you once again. I'll wait for your confirmation that I've done everything right and that the virus is deleted.

Kind regards.

he list goes on and on for a bit, do I need to paste everything here?
Yes, please.
It looks like AVP removed f1d044bb.sys rootkit, but I'd like to see a whole log. If it's really long, you can attach the file.

Please, go ahead, and uninstall AVG 7.5.
It's good, you're aware of not making any changes, but the changes I ask you to make are fine

re: [Resolved]random named .exe files in windows/temp

Umm, the reason Kaspersky got stuck with saving the .txt log is because it generated a file 20 megabytes big!
I've uploaded it to rapidshare but I must say the list of files in it is huge!

Code:
http://rapidshare.com/files/237106382/kaspers.txt.html

re: [Resolved]random named .exe files in windows/temp

Very well...

Please download ComboFix from Here or Here to your Desktop.

**Note: In the event you already have Combofix, this is a new version that I need you to download. It is important that it is saved directly to your desktop**
  1. Please, never rename Combofix unless instructed.
  2. Close any open browsers.
  3. Close/disable all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix.
    • Very Important! Temporarily disable your anti-virus, script blocking and any anti-malware real-time protection before performing a scan. They can interfere with ComboFix or remove some of its embedded files which may cause "unpredictable results".
    • Click on this link to see a list of programs that should be disabled. The list is not all inclusive. If yours is not listed and you don't know how to disable it, please ask.

    • Close any open browsers.
    • WARNING: Combofix will disconnect your machine from the Internet as soon as it starts
    • Please do not attempt to re-connect your machine back to the Internet until Combofix has completely finished.
    • If there is no internet connection after running Combofix, then restart your computer to restore back your connection.
  4. Double click on combofix.exe & follow the prompts.
  5. When finished, it will produce a report for you.
  6. Please post the "C:\ComboFix.txt" along with a new HijackThis log for further review.

**Note: Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it's running. That may cause it to stall**

Make sure, you re-enable your security programs, when you're done with Combofix.

re: [Resolved]random named .exe files in windows/temp

Hello again,

Here are the logs you asked me to make.
ComboFix LOG and HijackThis LOG.

I hope they help but that ComboFix sure did scare me when it started it's search. I don't know, it just looked like I'm doing something to my computer that will like... I don't know... erase half the files I really need and left me banging my head and formating C:
Attached Files
File Type: txt Combofix.txt (13.6 KB, 2 views)
File Type: txt hijackthisLOG.txt (7.1 KB, 2 views)
