re: [Resolved] Vista start-up problems

Did you have this problem before you installed SP 2? If not that might be the cause of your problems but I would check into the warranty. Don't tell them that you removed the ram or if they ask that you even opened up the case. The typically try to void your warranty if you open up the case because they don't trust you but really because they would like to use that as an excuse to get out of it.

I actually got this a few days before it came out. However, I will uninstall it and see if that works. Sorry, I wasn't ignoring you last time you said something about it, just forgot to answer it. Also, thanks for the advice. I'll be sure to keep my mouth shut about it.

re: [Resolved] Vista start-up problems

OK. The log is malware free, but I found possible culprit.
You're running TWO antivirus programs: Avira, and Avast. This is NO-NO.
One of them has to go. Your choice.

Don't. It's not a good idea to try two fixes at the same time.

re: [Resolved] Vista start-up problems

Ah, yes, sorry about that. I was using Avast!, then someone ... somewhere... forget where honestly, suggested Avira, and I realized that it was free as well. This was AFTER I started having problems, since I was just trying to get a double check on virus's and such. Avira said it uninstalled Avast, I guess all it did was remove all the things that it ran.... the mail protector and such. I will remove Avast, and do another scan with Avira. Thanks for noticing.

Thats true. Only try one thing at a time. Maybe I need to shut up.

Since it started happening before you installed your problem then it probably isn't the culprit. Generally you don't install a service pack if you are having major issues with your system.

Alright, I won't. I couldn't even find out where to uninstall it anyways. Alright, when I went to uninstall Avast, it said some error. I'm guessing this is because it's already 90% uninstalled or something? It said to try and reinstall or contact them.

re: [Resolved] Vista start-up problems

It doesn't matter, which one you keep. Just one of them.
You don't need to run any scans with the remaining one. I don't think, we're dealing with any infection here.
When you're done with uninstalling one of those programs, post fresh HJT log.
