[Resolved] Help! HijackThis log file post

My computer has been acting really weird lately, Its been going very slow, I keep getting these low disk space messages (my disk space jumps from 300 mb to 47 mb then to 5 mb, sometimes to 0 bytes), and my internet connection sometimes disconnects.. I believe I have some sort of infection going on.. Thanks..

re: [Resolved] Help! HijackThis log file post

We need to sort couple of things, first.
1. You're running two AV programs: AVG, and Avast. This is bad idea, and one of them has to go (preferably, AVG).
If you'll decide to uninstall AVG, use AVG Remover: AVG Antivirus and Security Software - Tools download
2. Please, post some computer info:
- processor type, amount of RAM (hold Windows logo key, hit Pause/Break key)
- hard drive size/free space (open "My Computer", right click on hard drive letter, click "Properties")

1st off thanks for responding, ok I uninstalled AVG. Now my comp info:

Dual Core Processor 4800+ 2.50 ghz..
1.87 GB of RAM
38.2 GB - hard drive size
2.26 GB of free space, but sometimes it goes down to 47 mb and then 5 mb then 0 bytes, then back up to 76 mb... It keeps changing.. After I uninstalled AVG, it went up to 2.26 gb tho.. It'll probably start doing the low disk space stuff later..

re: [Resolved] Help! HijackThis log file post

I don't see any immediate treats in your HJT log (we'll double check it later), but you definitely need more free space.
Windows needs at least 15% of a free space to operate correctly (~6GB in your case).
Start with...

Download Temp File Cleaner (TFC)
Double click on TFC.exe to run the program.
Click on Start button to begin cleaning process.
TFC will close all running programs, and it may ask you to restart computer.

Then, uninstall programs, you don't use. Move some data (movies, music, pictures, etc.) somewhere else.

Also...
Download Security Check from HERE, and save it to your Desktop.

* Double-click SecurityCheck.exe
* Follow the onscreen instructions inside of the black box.
* A Notepad document should open automatically called checkup.txt; please post the contents of that document.

Very good, but you still need to free some more space.

Also, you need to update Java.

Please download JavaRa to your desktop and unzip it to its own folder
  • Run JavaRa.exe, pick the language of your choice and click Select. Then click Remove Older Versions.
  • Accept any prompts.
  • Open JavaRa.exe again and select Search For Updates.
  • Select Update Using Sun Java's Website then click Search and click on the Open Webpage button. Download and install the latest Java Runtime Environment (JRE) version for your computer.

Note 1: UNCHECK any pre-checked toolbar and/or software offered with the Java update. The pre-checked toolbars/software are not part of the Java update.

Note 2: The Java Quick Starter (JQS.exe) adds a service to improve the initial startup time of Java applets and applications. If you don't want to run another extra service, go to Start > Control Panel > Java > Advanced > Miscellaneous and uncheck the box for Java Quick Starter. Click OK and restart your computer.

Then...

Unless you installed Viewpoint Manager knowledgeably...
Go Start>Control Panel>Add\Remove (Programs and Features in Vista), and...
Uninstall any of the following programs associated with Viewpoint:
* Viewpoint Manager
* Viewpoint Media Player
* Viewpoint Toolbar
This program does not do anything bad such as deliver ads or spy on you, but it is considered foistware ("drive-by-install") as it is installed without your consent through programs like AOl, AIM, Compuserve, etc.
