[Resloved] winpc antivirus

I apologise and rather assume this has all been spoken about before, but I've recently acquired the rather annoying 'WinPC Antivirus' which is clearly not an antivirus program but a malware program?

Having searched around a bit, I discovered that 'malwarebytes' was the universal choice to get rid of it, but I'm unable to use it. I've installed it but when i click on the program, I get the egg timer and nothing happens.

I've tried to get rid of it manually, having killed the process on the task manager because its constant alerts were doing my head in and also deleting the files & logs in the registry that are noted on numerous websites. However, my browser (firefox or ie) are still directing me to random websites and I'm pretty sure the threat still exists. Whether it does or not, I'm pretty sure I have lots of different threats on my computer and I can't get rid of them because I can't use any anti-spyware software at the moment, it simply won't work.

Any help? I'd like to point out I'm not that good with computers first! :idunno:

Hi Joe. I am not an expert with Windows Viruses as I am a full time Linux user. Broni who isn't present at the moment will get with you when he reads your post. Good Luck and just be a little patient with us and one of our Windows Techs will be on your problem.

Please download ComboFix from Here or Here to your Desktop.

**Note: In the event you already have Combofix, this is a new version that I need you to download. It is important that it is saved directly to your desktop**

Please, never rename Combofix unless instructed.
Close any open browsers.
Close/disable all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix.
- Very Important! Temporarily disable your anti-virus, script blocking and any anti-malware real-time protection before performing a scan. They can interfere with ComboFix or remove some of its embedded files which may cause "unpredictable results".
- Click on this link to see a list of programs that should be disabled. The list is not all inclusive. If yours is not listed and you don't know how to disable it, please ask.
- Close any open browsers.
- WARNING: Combofix will disconnect your machine from the Internet as soon as it starts
- Please do not attempt to re-connect your machine back to the Internet until Combofix has completely finished.
- If there is no internet connection after running Combofix, then restart your computer to restore back your connection.
Double click on combofix.exe & follow the prompts.
When finished, it will produce a report for you.
Please post the "C:\ComboFix.txt" along with a new HijackThis log for further review.

**Note: Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it's running. That may cause it to stall**

Make sure, you re-enable your security programs, when you're done with Combofix.

I downloaded combofix to my desktop like you said, but when I click on the icon 'combofix.exe' and then press run, nothing happens?

Ugh, Ok, was hoping to maybe make some progress while you were online but it's 2am over here and I should really get some sleep.

Thanks for your help, if you leave me something useful to do while your here, that would be nice for when I get on tomorrow afternoon.
