[RESOLVED] Popups, Comp Crashing and CPU Drain - Please Help!!!

Hi there-

I seem to be infected with a bunch of problems. Basically, what happens is that random popups will start appearing on my computer, even when I don't have browsers open. Also, explorer will crash because of an overload in the CPU. This is quite frustrating...

I download Spybot and it found 72 errors, all of which were fixed. I thought, "Hey, this might be over!" but then the problems promptly started up again.

Bump

Update with what's going on:

Now, when I start my computer, I get a bunch of black boxes popping up that are either cmd boxes or command.com. Sometimes they go away, while other times they say "The system cannot find the file specified." I'm guessing what is happening is that now that I ran Spybot, it deleted all the actual virus files, but the registry entries to load the viruses still are present.

Am I wrong? How do I fix this? What's going on?

Did you reboot your PC since you ran 'SPYBOT'? There were a lot of pending fixes left in your last log.


* Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from HERE or HERE

Double Click mbam-setup.exe to install the application.

• Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
• If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
• If you encounter any problems while downloading the updates, manually download them from here and just double-click on mbam-rules.exe to install.
• Once the program has loaded, initially select the often highly productive "Perform Quick Scan", then click Scan.
  ….. AND/OR
• It is also highly advisable to run the longer ”Full Scan” in addition to the above scan.
• The scan may take some time to finish, so please be patient.
• When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
• Make sure that everything is checked , and click Remove Selected.
• When disinfection is completed , a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart(See Extra Note).
• A run log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs TAB in MBAM.
• Copy&Paste the entire report(s) in your next reply along with a fresh HijackThis log.
• Please post any current revised observations.

Extra Note:
If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts, click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process, if asked to restart the computer, please do so immediately.

Just from my limited computer knowledge, I would probably say that "pesewomago" doesn't look right, and might be a virus.

Your system has an outdated version(s) of Sun Java that could create serious security exposure issues for your PC.

Update your Java.


Download the latest version of Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6.0 Update 11 or higher, and install it to your computer.

New Version should then show as (per HijackThis log):

C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.6.0_11\… or higher



Older JAVA versions have vulnerabilities that malware can and are using to infect systems.

Please follow these steps to remove older version Java components.

• Close any programs you may have running, ESPECIALLY your web browser
• Click Start > Control Panel.
• Click Add/Remove Programs.
• Check any item with Java Runtime Environment (JRE) in the name.
• Click the Remove or Change/Remove button.
• Repeat as many times as necessary to remove all versions of Java.
• Reboot your computer once all Java components are removed.

SELECT HijackThis FIX ITEMS: Scan with HijackThis and place a check next to these items, if still present:

DELETE FILES:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\jevaziji.dll





POST A REVISED HIJACKTHIS LOG for review:

• Reboot.
• Run a MBAM scan again
• Post a new HijackThis log.
• Provide any feedback commentary as appropriate - how things are now behaving: any new or remaining apparent issues.

Ok, I completed all those steps. However, a strange thing happened. I ran Hijack This and clicked "fix checked" on the ones that were supposed to be fixed. Then I rebooted the computer in safe mode to delete the dll file, and I couldn't find it. I went to system32 and just couldn't find the dll.

As of now, everything is working fine. The computer is working at normal speed, and there are no popups occurring.
I ran another scan and my computer was reported clean, so I'm hoping everything is OK.
