In simple terms the S_Video connector is no use if you are converting VHS analogue tapes to PC disk. The capture card in your PC MUST have a yellow phono "composite" video input socket. Using the S-video scoket on a capture card with an S-Video to phono converter lead only results in a black and white picture. I bought a WinTV PVR350 and it is useless for capturing old VCR / Camcorder tapes as it does not have a seperate phono composite socket. It only has the S-Video input and an adapter plug. However this does not work and I'm taking it back unless anyone can tell me a way of getting it to work. The box proudly boasts that I can connect my VCR and record my tapes but it doesn't tell me it will only work in black and white. Go to
