.avi quality in a DVD player/recorder

Hi guys, i bought a Technika DVD Recorder from Tesco the a few months ago and alls well and good, cept when it plays .avi files.

I usually record some shows in avi format and seeing as this player/recorder plays .avi i just burn em straight to disk. When i play this disk on my laptop, the quality is fine, everything plays perfectly. However, when i play the same disk on the dvd player, at points the picture goes all pixely and the audio then is about a 3 seconds ahead of the video. The "pixely" bits change whenever i play the disk again in the player.

Ive cleaned the DVD player using a cleaning disk and it still does it, anyone know why? Is it a problem with the player, the disk, or the file format?

Anyone know anything about this??

Hi Conercao,
When you say you record shows in avi format, what do you mean.
avi format is just a wrapper, could be DV, divx etc inside.
So what do you use to record these shows?
A camcorder, a PC, ??
Regards.
