Olympus xD Picture Card problem

okay this is my friend's memory card problem. apparently after she used this card to snap about 300 pictures or so, she went and buy a memory card reader. installed the reader, and plugged in the memory card to copy the pictures and such.

she was asked to reformat the card instead of being allowed to access it. being worried my friend even tried to use another computer's memory card reader. same issue. and right now even when she plugs it into the camera this issue pops out.

is there any way to save the pictures?

If the memory card is not recognized in the PC or it is impossible to access the data on it, the controller on the card is damaged. There is only one way to get the data back, unsolder memory chips and directly access their raw data with a programable chip reader. Software can't help, that is a physical damage!
