Wink Maybe the motherboard?

Hey there, I'm running Windows 2000, on a dell, and every time I press the power button....nothing happens....no POST test, or nothing on my screen. I determined that it's not the Power Supply as I do get a green light, and my fan kicks in....please help!!!!

Re: Maybe the motherboard?

no beeps, it doesn't go through the POST test....I'll have to get back to you with the model #, but I can open the DVD, and CDROM and the monitor screen is black with the power button being orange (like if it went into sleep mode) I have tried it with another monitor, and it still didn't work......Thanks for the reply.

"I determined that it's not the Power Supply as I do get a green light, and my fan kicks in.."

Without sensitive measuring equipment I wouldn't rule out the power supply just yet. Do you (or a friend) have another (known good) PS that you could try?

It could be the PS, motherboard, or connections.
