ip address re-set

My win2k pro PC resets the IP address from 10.0.0.3 to 192.168.?.? (last 2 numbers appear quite arbitrary) at random intervals.

Does this sound like a virus activity to you?

I run AVG free anti-virus on the pc and it reports no probs (yes it is kept up to date).

I also run zone-alarms personnal firewall AND my broadband router has a hardware firewall AND other pc's on my home network run linux with their own firewalls.

I have tried to track this problem for 5 days now but it isn't easy, being a random occurence. I just wondered if you guys have seen something like it before?

Thanks in advance for any thoughts you care to share.

If it dont fit...force it. If ya cant force it...get a bigger hammer. If it breaks...it probably needed replacing anyway.

Thanks for the comments guys. The problem appears to have been IE: I removed IE, Outlook and Outlook Express and wiped the hard disk free space - then I re-installed all three and have not had the problem all day.
