Desktop shortcut title too long to delete or rename!

Hello,

I am newly registered and I would like help resolving an issue.

I have the same problem with a shortcut on the desktop. I have a shortcut that is too long and I cant rename or delete because of an error thrown up.

I have tried the command prompts and have entered data in different ways and I get nothing. It comes back saying things like file path not found or incorrect, does not appear in either internal or external files,etc.

I am not very computer literate but if I can find someone to give step by step instructions I would appreciate the help.

Hello all,

I have just solved my own problem and thought I would pass it along.

The shortcut I had put on the desktop continually gave an error that the file could not be deleted nor renamed.

I have SpyBot S&D Advanced version which is a free download (they accept donations however and it is worth it, I feel). One of the tools is the "Secure Shredder". I was able to drag and drop the shortcut to this and shredded it. GONE!

I had tried command prompt and just about every other way I could think of and no results. I tried dragging it to the recycle bin, other folders and on and on and it would not allow me to do anything. It did allow me drag it to the "Secure Shredder" and deleted it. SpyBot S&D cmae through here.

Just thought I would let it be known. Hope this helps someone.
