My nephew gave me a 4 yr old Pentium 3 used computer with Win 2000 Pro.
Its a lot better then my older one.
After using it for a couple of days my Document pages are '' locked '' and cannot do anything in them except move the page up & down. I'm getting the message in a window saying to Activate Office but I cannot do that.
What happens if I uninstall Office ? Do I need Office ?
I think my old computer had Office too but I only got to know that last week after using it for 6 years. I do have the installation code (long number) to activate Office in this (used) new computer but when I get Wizard to do it the thing just keeps taking me in circles.
So, what if I uninstall Office ?
I have a huge number of Family History files and I need to work in them and not have them locked.
if you un-install office, your office files (word, excel, powerpoint, publisher) will be un-readable (you cannot do anything with them) if you then purchase office and install it, you will be able to open/edit/save your files again.
just try to back them up on USB/floppys etc. if ur really worried, or you could email them to yourself. Then try re-installing office or u could try installing office 98' or an older version
