This is what I do when I decide to buy a new computer -
It works so well every time I can recommend this method to each and everyone (except the real geeks of course who build their own, but I am not in that league)
- Visit a trusted small family business IT shop in your area
- Know what you really want and be open to suggestions
- Advise the person helping you what you want to do on the new computer
- ie Surfing, email, chat, gaming etc
- If you must have Wndows 7 ask for it
- Then if you are happy with the quote, sign a contract with only the items you choose to have so they can build it for you. Make sure you get it internet ready, OS installed, delivery date and most of all have a demo before paying in full. Also make sure it has a free AntiVirus up and running. There are a few good tips in my signature you may like to read about maintenance and backup which are also most important.
I did this 5 years ago with my personal PC and more recently (2006) again with my Laptop. Both great systems, three years warranty with both and so far not one problem with either.
The above are basic suggestions that work and most of all you are not paying for anything you do not need as you do when buying off the shelf so to speak. Following the above method, maintaining your new purchase well will last you for years.
Let us know how you progress,
kind regards,
