256 Colours, pB 6333

I had 3 PBs (all but two have ben written off). I have installed win 98 (legal copy). I have choice between 2/16 colours. I know I had 256 colours before. I have downloaded drivers for PB Club 6333 to download driver to A276 monitor. No problems there, bo colour change.

Details of CLub are Herculues, Pegasus m/board (although I have upgrraded mem) Video is SIS/55927/98. My monitor reads A276 (correct) but where are my colours. My 7rd is cross with me because I will not let him on my other pC's. Can not fathom this out. I can not get into internet to download there (which woul have been helpful). I can obviously get into using my working PC. Any advice (have you ever tried to use internet with 16 colours - it does not work.

Further details on this PB machine are: Club 6333 Biostar Pegasus 32MB SDRAM SIS 5597/98 ES 1869 Modem FDV 56K V90.

I guess the modem issue will arise as well now because AOL does not detect it. I did a format C:\S clean up so it is screaming out for drivers! Loaded win98, I have ME and HE but PC Club does not like HE and disables my keyboards and all my son wants it for is to use WOrd, AOL and some games. I upgraded memory to 20GB so it is lack of RAM nor space. Please advice, I am feeling guilty big time!

Bit stupid, replying to myself. I d/loaded my PB A276 monitor/drivers (wih help). However, if I decide to be really clever, use display, adapter, advanced and changed it to Super VGA and it gave me 256 colours but was not suitable for the adapter. There must (and a easy way) to sort this, because 8 days ago it was working well with 256. I can't get to AOL (has anyone tried with 16 colours, it is impossible!). Surely this should be an easy rememdy (OK should have learnt to backup!). My 7yr old is driving me nuts as he wantts on my desktop PC which I also use for work when I am not usiong the laptop. It certainly must have been a Club 3666 (or other way around) but I upgraded mem and RAM (20GB, RAM can't remember). But it worked! ANyone has any advice I would be so so grateful. I am getting totally obseessed by trying to sort this out!

You need to get the SiS 5597/5598 graphics chip drivers installed. Here's a direct link to that download on the SiS web site:

Note that it's a 7.5Mb download.

Also note that it will download as a ZIP file so you'll need to unzip it before you can access the drivers. You probably don't yet have a copy of Winzip or another suitable ZIP program on your newly-formatted Windows 98 PC so you can download it from here: http://www.winzip.com.

Let us know if that gets it sorted
