stream manager
Sometimes when I hit "connect" on the page to go online, it puts up a large sign that reads "MTLMDM-Can't load stream manager". This only happens occasionally, and restarting the machine fixes it, but what's going on? How do I stop it? Thanks!

Re: stream manager
Is this on one particular webpage or any that you attempt to visit?
Other than that for now, I'm investigating......

Re: stream manager
Is your modem embedded on the motherboard, or is it a seperate add-on card?
PCI or ISA?
What is the make/model of the modem?
( This free program should tell you all about your system.)
Do you have the latest drivers for it installed?
Do you have the modem drivers so that they can be reinstalled?

Re: stream manager
So, you think this is a modem problem, and removing and reinstalling the driver will make it go away? I'll try it. Thanks! Its an el cheapo modem, but it gets me on the net most of the time. The modem is a separate card.

Re: stream manager
Based upon the information so far, it appears that the ""MTLMDM-Can't load stream manager" error, and the modem not dialing out are connected in this scenario. So, something must be taking away the resources, or parameters for operation from the modem. We have to find where/what that is. Reinstalling the drivers helps insure that Comm ports, IRQ's, etc are "recently etched" into the O/S, and the O/S is finding the correct device support files.
I'm not finding very much information on the "MTLMDM-Can't load stream manager" error thus far. (Time factor on my part mostly, I'm working three jobs at the moment.) Still looking though.

Re: stream manager
LATEST DEVELOPMENT: discarding and reloading the modem driver does not change a thing. About every 3 or 4 times at connecting, I stil get the same old message. New ideas?

Re: stream manager
Still not finding much (Google, MSKB) on the "MTLMDM-Can't load stream manager" error. There are a number of postings on the net seeking answers, but there is not much in the way of replies or information on this. Most of the information I'm finding however, relates to modems.
Use the program (Everest Home Edition) I outlined in #4 above to ID the modem, or, pull the cover/modem and get the info straight from the physical device. Everest is preferred as it provides chip instruction info for the modem, which relates/equates to proper drivers.
Download(and transfer?)/Install/Run the program. Use the Report Wizard to save all pages in HTML format. This way you can take advantage of the built in links to hardware manufacturers listed for drivers, etc. Post any modem information you have here.

Re: stream manager
I will post this question at the modem manufacturer's site and see what they think.
