add abd remove programs

i m using win 98 OS in my compac presario pc. my problem is whenever i load any application software, the software is loaded proprly but the changes are not reflected in control panel->add and remove programs.

that is it doesn't show the program installed in list of program loaded. please help me. as i have loaded many softwares which i don't need but they occupy a lot of space and affect my pc's performance.to recover i tried loading the os back but all in vain.

Did Norton come with an uninstall? Its usually found in start button/programs.
