16 color

i reintalled win98 and cant get it past 16 colors. i have a dell dimension 4100 with the standard PCI graphics adaptor (vga). please help its hurting my eyes.

the installed driver i have is called vga.drv and the video adaptor says its ATI rv100 DDR in one place and then it says ATI Radeom 7000 somewhere else.

i downloaded two of the drivers but neither of them will install. am i doing something wrong?

What happens when you try to install them? They technically arent for w98 but may work anyway.

I could not find the driver for ATI RV100 DDR on ATI site. I am able to install Radeon 7000 series but system generated an error message "STOP: 0x0000001E ...)" and disabled the shutdown function. May I know where you downloaded ATI RV100 DDR driver?

I had the same problem when I reinstalled windows 98SE ,I have a HP paviloin ,went to intel site, went to chipsets,then to the 810 family of chipsets ,,downloaded the graphics driver and it works great ,,got lots of color ,,,awesome ,,,,but still dont have any sound ,,no master sound controls ,,nothing ,,what did I do wrong ,,can anyone help
