system reboots

after downloading and installing the "Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer 6 Service Pack 1 (KB867801)" my system has been rebooting at random times all by itself. I'm including the output of hijack this below in case it is requested. any help would be appreciated

I have also run adaware and spybot, both with updated reference files. TIA

my os is windows ME

Have you installed your Kensington MouseWorks mouse/trackball software since the IE update? Apparently, it should only be installed if you use "advanced features" (whatever they are). Might be causing an intermittent conflict if it's new.

There's a new update available now that includes that one and some fixes released since then. Might be worth installing that so that it replaces the files that it updated previously with the newest versions.

A colleague of mine told me just this afternoon that she installed the same update as you and now her PC doesn't boot up properly! I've had a quick look round the Microsoft support site and I can't find any documented cases of problems with it though.

I had the Rebooting problem with WinMe and corrected it by doing a "Repair" of Internet Explorer. My computer already had the SP1 installed, but after the repair I ran SP1 again. My problem was a messed up Windows Media Player. Everyone told me it was hardware related but everything works fine now.

Mine turned out to be a bad power supply. put a new one in and the problem vanished
