Re: Crashing ME

Will need more info please. like what sort of activity causes the PC to crash --- does it happen with any particular application, and what error-messages do you get if any?
Did your PC start crashing only after Firefox was installed?

Re: Crashing ME

Thanks for reply. Installing FireFox seems to have locked darn near everything intermittently. Freezing while opening various windows/applications sluggish speed, cursor stickiness. No particular application...just all. No error messages. Crashing very seldom before Firefox installed. After installation, the symtoms above developed. As an aside, I thought maybe having IE and Firefox running together on this system may have been too much. Thank you for your inquiry. Any further questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

Re: Crashing ME

Did you have any problems with IE? (before fox?)

Perhaps try to uninstall firefox just to see if that clears it up.

You can always reinstall.

Also perhaps hit a restore point before the installation Or On the installation of firefox.

Re: Crashing ME

Thanks, I'm going to give your suggestions a try. To answer your last questions...
No problems with IE before installing Firefox.
I did uninstall Firefox (and that's where I'm at. I really would like to install Firefox again. Just don't know if the two browsers are compatible.
I'll try the restore point option. Thanks...lets see what develops

Re: Crashing ME

Well, I again installed Firefox and working myself around it. So far, nothing is jabbing on me. Just having trouble logging in to secure sites. Firefox states it can't establish a secure connection to certain websites. So how can I get in? (States SSL doesn't have a secure connection. When I'm in IE, all my sites (hotmail, bank, ebay, phone) are ok. Yet I'm not allowed in any of them when I go back to Firefox and try to log in to any of them. All I want to do is be able to use the security of Firefox and have access to my sites. What do you think? And by the way, thanks...

Re: Crashing ME

All these settings for Firefox appear to be in

Tools > Options > Advanced

This is about as far as I can go having never used security settings in either browser.

Your "conflicts" do seem to stem from this.

Another try would be in Firefox click the File button then Import the Internet Options.

Re: Crashing ME

What version of firefox are you using? Version 3 isn't for any system newer than 2000 according to their system requirements page. Also as you can see you system doesn't meet the recommended specs (processor speed) for version 3. Version 2 is for Windows 98 and newer but your processor speed barely meets the required minimum & doesn't meet the recommended minimum. Something to keep in mind. Also to keep in mind is that microsoft screwed up ME, didn't even try to fix it with service packs, roll ups, etc & no longer supports it. In other words they aren't creating any new bug fixes/security updates). Another thing is that the minimum requirements for ram for both versions is 64 mb.

5) Respond with the result(s) of the suggestion(s) from the other users to provide feedback, even if this only means saying "this worked!"
If you don't know your system information please consider running our hardware scan and post or PM me your link.
