Video Card Problem

I have found that I can install certain games but cannot play them. I sent off a dxdiag to one manufacturer, and they stated that my video card would not support their game. The following is our conversation:

Created: Jan 15, 2009
Status: Closed
Assigned To: dgrunder
Game: Project Nomads

Upon installation...when I try to load and play I get: "Nomads has caused an error in NDIRECT 3D 8.DLL. Nomads will now close." Thank you.

Could you please send us a dxdiag file by following these steps:
1. please press the "windows" key and the "R" key on your keyboard at the same time.
2. type in the inputbox dxdiag and press ok. Now the directx window should open.
3. please click on "save all information" and save it to your drive c:
4. open the dxdiag file
5. copy and paste the whole text of the dxdiag file into your next response

I'm sorry your video card isn't sufficient to run Project Nomads properly.
You need at minimum a Geforce 256 or an ATI Radeon 7500 video card.

Will AGP 2X work? Do you know if my computer(motherboard) and O/S will support this card?

Which video card do you exactly mean? Brand Model? Ram?
Please check the manual of your mainboard or the manufactuerer website which video cards are supported.

My question is: EXACTLY what card do I NEED? I don't wish to put a $100 card into a $50 computer if I don't have to..What cheap card would match a Geforce 256 or an ATI Radeon 7500 video card?
