Re: Screen Resolution Problem

You can try going back to when all was well.

Use System Restore or remove all the software you installed that initiated the problem.

If you reinstalled the graphics drivers did you uninstall the old ones first?

You are running off a chipset device as far as I can see:

Intel 82945G Express Chipset Graphics

You might also consider upgrading to an independent graphics card.

Just some ideas.

Linux and Windows might use the same drivers but there should be no cross-over between the systems.

Being a chipset graphics device your BIOS and motherboard are also in the play.

If you do have an independent graphics card then for some reason it is not being detected.

Re: Screen Resolution Problem

I system restored and the problem is still there.
I reinstalled the driver without uninstalling it as uninstalling it would cause the screen to blank.
I'm begining to think that my monitor or graphics chipset is fried.
I'll go check the BIOS settings later.
Oh yes, there was a failed installation of BlueSoeil.

Re: Screen Resolution Problem

Uninstalling graphics drivers simply reverts the system to VGA or basic video.

It is important to uninstall old graphics drivers before installing any new ones.

The latest drivers should be at HP:

Re: Screen Resolution Problem

I've tried uninstalling the GFX driber before, first it blanks, then it goes into basic video, then it blanks again until I reboot.
I've already tried the latest drivers AND the original drivers but none of them worked.

Re: Screen Resolution Problem

Monitors that use a 1440 x 900 native resolution not detected by Windows Vista
Monitors that use a 1440x900 native resolution, such as the HP w19, are not detected by computer. Wide-screen monitors that have a native resolution of 1440x900 pixels, such as the HP w19, may not be properly detected by the system when connected to computer that uses Microsoft Windows Vista and an nVidia graphics card. To correct this issue, update the nVidia graphics driver for the computer so that it is able to recognise the default resolution. If you are having this issue with an HP computer that has nVidia graphics hardware, you can download and install SP26943 to correct the issue...

SLOVED!
Apparently I found a weird way to fix this.
I recently got Garry's Mod and I decided to play with the settings, under Video, I saw that it has 1440x900 in there so I choose it and it loaded.
When I closed it, It wen't back to 1280x768 but 1440x900 is back there!
Now I'm back to my normal resolution.
