Clearing junk files

Hi all
Over the past few years I have used various freeware and paidware programmes to ensure my computers are clear of unnecessary files and running at their optimal level.

Using Vista Smoking in combination with JV16 (Macecraft) and PC Pitstop Optimize 2 I got pretty good results on my Vista Home Basic 32 computer.
However, since Smoking won't run on my main computer, which runs on Home Premium 64 bit , I simply use Pitstop and JV16. The result is not perfect and JV16 admits that it is running at only 89% efficiency.
After defragging with Auslogics' freeware defragger, Auslogics reported lots of junk files (which had not been removed by JV16 or PC Optimize 2). My question is therefore, do those who have used the paid version of Auslogics' programme find a significant improvement after using it? Am I well advised to pay out just a little bit more to buy that programme in addition to JV16 and PC Optimize, or will the difference be insignificant?
Kind regards
David

Re: Clearing junk files

Have you ever tried CCleaner: CCleaner - Builds. Get "Slim" version.
Read CCleaner instruction here: CCleaner Manual, and run CCleaner.

Re: Clearing junk files

Thanks Broni
Interesting... after using CCleaner and then reanalysing with JV16, JV16 reports 100% efficiency (ie PC health) (as opposed to the previous 89%) whereas Auslogics still thinks there are some junk files, but nowhere near as many. I may be wrong (and will no doubt confirm or deny this later), but I think that CCleaner in conjunction with what I already have (or maybe even on its own...) will do the trick - thanks :-)

Re: Clearing junk files

You're welcome
The most important thing about CCleaner is the fact, that this is probably the safest cleaner ever.
I use it on regular basis, recommended it to tens of people, and I've never heard any complain.
