downloading help

hi i have a aspire 5315-2290 laptop with vista home premium and i cant download anything i dont get no eorror mesg i just get a page that says Trend Micro InterScan for CSC SSM

The following file is detected in HTTP traffic:

File: www.belarc.com/Programs/advisor.exe
Action: blocked
Rule: Block file type Executable

The file named www.belarc.com/Programs/advisor.exe that you are attempting to transfer has been blocked. Organization policy does not allow this activity.

yet i have nothing blocked and it just started doing this about a hour ago this is not a work computer so it shouldnt have anything blocked plese help

What Trend Micro software are you running?

If this is a new problem try a System Restore.

All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore

i dont have Trend Micro on my computer and i already did the restore

What anti virus are you running?

Trend Micro InterScan for Cisco CSC SSM is an anti virus program.

Is that what is giving you this error (block) on Belarc?

i dont have one on the computer it wont let me download anything at all

Just to verify/clarify:

This problem just started an hour or so ago?

Previously you were on line with no anti virus protection?

Now your access has been limited on the computer?

System Restore will not restore?


If yes to the above I'd venture an educated guess that you got hit with malware or a virus.

If that is the case I'd suggest posting a HijackThis log in the HijackThis log section of this forum.

If you cannot download HijackThis then do so on another computer then transfer to an external device to run on this machine. Floppy; Thumb drive; SSD card; etc.
