Re: How to Get Max Performance

You have a soket S1 motherboard so you have to get a socket s1 processor. Unfortunately I didn't not see that as an option under new egg for that so it might have been discontinued which leaves ebay or some other online auction site.

Unless you are continuously near or over your 2 gb physical capacity the only benefit to getting more ram would be if you computer supports dual channel & I'm not seeing if it does. Something for you to research. I'm sorry that I can't give you any thing else now but I don't have time to look now.

Re: How to Get Max Performance

The question is what RAM should I buy?

667 Mhz or 800 Mhz... It is dual-supported and when I bought my laptop it came with the 667 Mhz so if I buy one 800 Mhz it would help or would it not.

RAM for sure is 2 GB.

Re: How to Get Max Performance

If you mix speeds all will revert to the lowest.

Best for pairs is exact pairs.

If you mix 800 & 667 both will run at 667 and might also create other difficulties.

Re: How to Get Max Performance

If you only have 2 slots for ram then you will have to buy 2 new sticks.

Thank you, jephree.

To townsbg: May you please clarify?

Sorry. If you have only 2 slots for ram on your MB, and both are being use, then both have to be replaced in order to upgrade from 2 gb to 4 gb & jephree is saying that they should match anyway. Reading back are you asking if your board has dual channel support or are you saying that it does? If you are asking I don't know what to tell you because the specs don't say. Really I don't understand why you are wanting to upgrade your computer just to have higher performance numbers. Bragging rights? I could understand replacing hardware if your computer isn't performing well enough for what you need to do. If you created this thread because your computer is lacking in performance or if it seems slow then their are other ways to possibly increase that a little without spending money on new hardware. Your numbers won't go up but it might perform better.

Re: How to Get Max Performance

Only one slot is being used.
I have new slots and one slot is currently being use by a 2GB Ram from the factory.
I am planning to buy another 2 GB RAM to fill the other slot.
I stated that they are dual because they are...evidence is on the factory's website and others mis...
The specs I gave you were "my current one" not the max... It was not I had right now... those specs are only for my laptop in which the max. upgrade was not shown because I have yet to upgrade it.
