Wich is the best freeware Firewall and Antivirus for XP?

Right now i´ve got no Firewall and im running the Norten systemworks premier 2005 with noton antivirus but is there a better(free) antivirus software for XP?
Please let me know what´s better if there is any!I´m gonna get the sp2 within the next days.Is there really a need to have it?what else should i get for more security in future?

down load service pack 2 for xp it it has its own basic firewall you would be best not to go on to the internet with out a firewall you can get sp2 on cd from most pc wharehouses and shops or direct from microsoft why do you want something better than norton antivirus when it the best one on the market is it up todate it is only as good as it is up todate

I use sygate firewall and AVG antivirus. They are both brilliant. I used to have norton but found it a resource hog.

IMHO for AV software you can't go wrong with Avast or AVG. For firewall software I recommend Sygate Just my 2 ¢
