Windows Installer

Hi there

When I open a file, say with Adobe , windows installer is launched and a narrative comes up --preparing to install. Im using XP home. Whichle the preparing is going on my computer has started to make an awful noise--rrumm rrumm like the hard disc is going mad. Ive tried a few upgrades and dowloads but its still doing it ! any clues to what the problem is please ? it was ok before the last few weeks !

thank you

If it dont fit...force it. If ya cant force it...get a bigger hammer. If it breaks...it probably needed replacing anyway.

Re: Windows Installer

Do you have XP Journal Viewer installed?

If yes & you dont use it then uninstall it.

If yes & you want to keep it I can show you ways to fix this problem.

It is a known issue between Adobe, Journal Viewer, & Windows Installer.

install microsoft journal viewer

Re: Windows Installer

Journal Viewer usually causes this problem.

Did you look in Add/ Remove programs?

Otherwise I will search for other issues, but the Adobe/ Installer glitch has been known (usually w/ JV).

Re: Windows Installer

By JV I meant Journal Viewer. It is usually installed via Windows Update as an XP optional update.

Do you have the latest Adobe? Have you updated that lately?

Meanwhile I will continue to search. You still might find something in my previous link also.
