Can anyone help me please!

I have been at this comp for 3 days now trying to resolve this rundll32.exe problem. I've followed instructions to download pc doctors etc, but when trying to run or install any download it won't allow me.

This has alot to do with rundll32.exe beeing removed. Like an dumb S**t I am, I deleted the above background process, thinking it was a virus.

So is there anyone out there who can help me?

Thanx for your time.

Lea

Re: Removed rundll32.exe

If you have a full version XP CD:

Insert your Windows XP CD ROM disk in the CD ROM drive. Click Start|Run, type in:

expand X:\i386\rundll32.ex_ c:\%systemroot%\system32\rundll32.exe

in the Open box, (where "X:" is the letter of your CD ROM drive), and press [Enter]. When it's done, restart your computer.

If your XP is OEM you will need to import this file or check the recovery options your manufacturer offers. If this is the case what is the make & model of your computer?

Rundll32.exe

I deleted rundll32.exe by mistake thinking it was a virus. I've tried downloads to re-install it, I tried system restore but it won't open, I cannot access applications or run the windows xp disk to install. What can I do?

Re: Removed rundll32.exe

I entered the above in start/run and again a dialog box appeared sayin "windows cannot open this file"

Like I said, it won't run anything.

The screen that appears when installing the xp disk again gives an option to install, but when clicking on it, it does nothing.... Oooh what have I done? What a bloody pratt I am. lol Any other solutions?

The make of the pc is asus. No idea what model I'm affraid....However the windows xp is OEM product... whatever that means? there's nothing I can do to resolve this is there?

Think I'll have to have the whole thing re-built.

Thankyou for your time.

Re: Rundll32.exe

Can you ID the comp from the following:

http://usa.asus.com/products/desktop/dktindex.htm

Do you have the manual?

OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) means that XP was installed by the manufacturer. You bought the machine with XP installed.

It also means that rather than a full version XP CD you have some type of Recovery CD.

We need to know how Asus intends that Recovery CD to be used.

Thus if you can ID the model & or find the manual & look up Recovery Options.
