AutoRun Software Problems

Hey again!

So, this is what happens. Hardly any of my AutoRun Start-up software runs on a boot. To get it to open, i have to open it manually, or log off and log back on again. The same problem happens on a standard reboot too. I don't seem to know what the problem is... but it's frustrating

Any help would be appreicated - thank you in advance!

Dan

See if this helps:

http://groups-beta.google.com/group/...5f699d9f85d08d

Also if the programs are not in your startup folder you can move them there.

Re: AutoRun Software Problems

Would it be a good idea to 'move' the file path names from the registry into this folder? I only actually have four programs in the startup folder itself. but some of these are the ones i have problems with, one of them out of the four opens.

Re: AutoRun Software Problems

like the post said, those registry entries are in place, however there are no additional replies to help maybe someone here has any 'new' ideas?

Just a note, unlike that post, it seems i can see all the files in msconfig...

Re: AutoRun Software Problems

Just thinking of your log off/on issue:

Make sure that the registry path is for All Users.

Re: AutoRun Software Problems

That was the distinction in the last post between Current User & Local Machine:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders
and it's CommonStartup here.

Re: AutoRun Software Problems

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup
%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Start Menu\Programs\Startup

Those are the values, and they look to me that they are correct. It isn't just programs in the StartUp folder that are affected though, some in the registry are the same too, but some aren't =o/

Re: AutoRun Software Problems

Back to the log on/off issue:

Do the programs start when you log off/on?

Do you logon when you boot the machine?

Does it depend on the User? Or are all users the same?

Re: AutoRun Software Problems

Have you checked your options via Control Panel | User Accounts | Change the way users log on or off

On the left hand menu there is an explaination of Logon Options

Perhaps try making a change here & apply. You can go back & reset. Just thinking this shake-up might set things straight.

Are you using the built-in Admin account? Is this Home or Pro?

If so you might want to create another Admin account for daily use.
