scanning for viruses takes too long- whaqt can I do?

after virus infection three+ wks ago, apps work pretty normally, only rare freezing on start-up. But, scanning online/HOUSECALL took 2 1/2 hrs, only 50% scanned- any suggestion?

Try it in Safe Mode.

Have you run disk clean up, checked you fragmentation levels lately? Virus scans tend to take longer if the HD is excessively fragmented. Do check it out and run a defrag if needed.
