Outlook express, attachments and MSN mesanger

I am having major problems in receiving emails with attatchments. I am using WIndows XP and outlook express with the security "do not allow.........be viruses" checkbox cleared. The problem seems to have occured since I installed MSN messanger 7. I have uninstalled MSN messanger but the problem still persists. Any ideas ?

THX in advance

See if this helps, open OE, click Tools, Options, Security, and uncheck the box in the screen shot below. Now click Apply and then Ok

Re: Outlook express, attachments and MSN mesanger

Perhaps try a System Restore to a point before the installation of the MSN Messenger.

Also make sure that you have all the latest Windows Critical Updates. SP2 Plus.

Re: Outlook express, attachments and MSN mesanger

O.Express is indeed an Easy to use mail client however when it comes to downloading attachments there are various reasons why it wudnt work .
as instructed earlier, uncheck the do not let...potentially a virus box .

second step : disable your anti viruses/spam blockers which sometimes come along with your anti virus as a package .

3rd : Check for stuck emails, when i say stuck it means "large emails",O.Express may not work sometimes or hang when its attempting to download large file sizes .

4th step : Your Inbox Could be corrupted,You could replace it by follwing this step .

Tools > Options > Maintenence tab >Store Folder>(Copy)Store location .
Create a New folder(backup) to store your existing emails
you could name it inbox2 .

Now that you have copied the store location....

Start>run>ctrl+v(paste) the store location>ok

Opens a Folder Where you find the file Inbox.dbx .
Delete the file .
If it doesnt let you delete, says its in use that means you have
you Inbox on O.E highlighted, switch to diff folder .

Now after deleting close Folder .Go to O.E create new inbox and copy files
from Inbox2 to Newly made folder .that shud do the trick ! .

Last step you could try is,eg . i download my gmail emails on OE .
go to gmail , delete large, unwanted emails .

launch O.E and try send/receive .

If these steps dont work you may need to re-install OE .

Hope this info helps
