Minidump errors etc.. system keeps shutting down.

I am having the famous problem where I get a 'seriosu error' message after my system suddenly shuts down when opening a game or 3d-type program.. (if you know what I mean!)

Restarts without warning then the error back in Windows says the following files were included in your error report..

Some
.dmp file
and an .xml

Any advice would be VERY much appreciated!

MULTIPLE_IRP_COMPLETE_REQUESTS (44)
A driver has requested that an IRP be completed (IoCompleteRequest()), but
the packet has already been completed. This is a tough bug to find because
the easiest case, a driver actually attempted to complete its own packet
twice, is generally not what happened. Rather, two separate drivers each
believe that they own the packet, and each attempts to complete it. The
first actually works, and the second fails. Tracking down which drivers
in the system actually did this is difficult, generally because the trails
of the first driver have been covered by the second. However, the driver
stack for the current request can be found by examining the DeviceObject
fields in each of the stack locations.

Re: Minidump errors etc.. system keeps shutting down.

Is this a new problem? A consistent problem? Were things working OK before?

Please change this setting for future dumps & also you can post them as attachments.

Please change your dump log setting via:
Right click My Computer then click Properties then Advanced then Startup and Recovery | Settings:
Write debugging information:
change to Complete memory dump.

Are you doing any thing other than opening 3D apps?
Does this happen with all 3D apps?
Do you have the latest ATI drivers?
Are you running CD burning software at the same time?

Also check the Device Manager: RT click My Computer then click Manage then Device Manager or go to start/run/ devmgmt.msc for any "!"

Also check Start/Run/ dxdiag | Display for any issues.

Re: Minidump errors etc.. system keeps shutting down.

Nope! I have tried the steps you suggested.. nothing seems to be in bad order..

Dxdiag looks ok, everying is enabled like Direct3D for example, and i've tested them all, and results are all good.

It is really one game that I am trying to open - and I do have the latest Drivers..

I will try it again the post the new .dmp file here soon. Thanks!!
Dave.

Smile Re: Minidump errors etc.. system keeps shutting down.

UPDATE!

Problem is solved but now I have a problem with the game itself... if anyone could help?

I solved the blue screen etc by one simple step... Turning off Avast antivirus
Oh dear that's terrible that all of this trouble can be caused by that.

But, when the game is loading suddenly it will cut out, in the same place each time.. any ideas?!

Thanks,
Dave.

Re: Minidump errors etc.. system keeps shutting down.

What is the game? Did that last dump coincide with a game crash?
It is very similar to the first but there is more detail.
Is this an on-line game?
Are you on a network?
Any issues with NIC or Modem drivers?
