Hoiw do I copy from Desk top to lap top

Can any one help,I am having problems copying word documents from my desk top onto my lap top,Can anyone give me an easy solution, I am a computer novice.

Hello, I am having a problem copying my word document from my desk top to my lap top, mt lap top tels me that cannot change anything on my lap top these files are read only.Can you please give me an easy answer ,computer novice.

Are you transferrig via network, memory stick etc? All you need to do is right click the one you want to transfer, choose properties and uncheck the read only, click apply. You can do this on the desktop or laptop. This will allow you to change the files, keep typing, whatever you need to do.
