XP Service Pack 2 help

i've tried to download the service pack 2 from automatic updates and from the microsoft website but everytime it fails halfway through and uninstalls what was installed. i need to download SP2 inorder for my college internet connection to work (the school uses Cisco Clean Access Agent).

i went to the campus computer help desk which gave me a copied disk of the SP2 on it but my CD-Rom drive doesn't recognize the disk. also i got the SP2 disk from microsoft themselves from a friend and my drive won't recognize that either. my computer does recognize audio cds and i had problems last week burning a cd and reading a copy of a program..which the drive eventually read. any help would be greatly appreciated, i may just take it to best buy's geek squad to see if they can do anything. thanks!

You can always try the free SP2 support line.

The number in US/Canada is 888-SP2-HELP.

The number in the UK is 0845 0902025.
