service pack 2 wireless issues

Hi,

I'm having a problem with my wireless on my laptop. I have XP &
After upgrading to service pack 2 my wireless stopped working.

I did some research & found that many people are having the same problem so after trying the many fixes suggested by various users such as applying a patch & stopping the zero config service. I just gave up and uninstalled SP2.

Now the wireless works, but every time I try to get online I have to manually renew my ip address, it doesn't get assigned automatically as it should. Please let me know how to fix this problem. Also, if you have any suggestions about how to get around the service pack 2 issue, that would be great. I'm a little worried about security since I dont have the latest protections installed.

What is the make & model of the laptop? Can you share the links for the patch you mention as well as the other suggestions you found?
