Items in the taskbar aren't there but my program boot up?

IN my taskbar in the bottom right cornor nothing seems to load up only a few things however the process load and in hijack this there starting up.
PLEASE HELP

I removed avast and it fixed my problem. One last thing.
Which is the best antivirus and firewall?

That's a "Depends on who you ask" question.

If you want freeware AVG anti virus is very popular:

Most firewall software offers a free version. Although many make them difficult to find. At least Sygate still offers theirs upfront:
